RussiBKeymasterOkay, so first off, couldn't find this covered anywhere, if anyone has any info please feel free to share.Secondly - yes I know I am making excuses but hear me out. I am spending this Christmas in Budapest with my girlfriend and the potential outlaws who are also Hungarian. As Hungarians they LOVE fatty meats and sour cream. So far so good, however they are also rather partial to sneaking carbs into meals using flour as thickening agents, sugar, alcohol etc. and it being my first Christmas with them I have absolutely zero idea about what they are going to cook or how etc etc. To keep it brief I've pretty much decided that between 22/12 and 01/01 I am going to have to accept I won't be able to maintain a ULC diet as it is more or less out of my control unless I want to be an anal pedant about being ULC to a point of pi$$ing them off. I also know we will be in Vienna so eating out regularly etc. during that period. I just don't see a way of keeping carbs under 20g during that time.So my question is essentially this - damage limitation - how, what, why and when?
- How can I try to limit any 'damage' I do over those days?
- What can I expect when coming off a ULC diet that quickly?
- When will my body stop burning fat as its primary energy source?
- Apart from the obvious 'don't gorge yourself every day' can anyone spare any advice?
I plan on getting back on the wagon ASAP after NYE but don't want to just go in blindly during that period.Thank you![/list]

samuel r walkerParticipantHeres the best advice I can give.. Dont worry about it! Enjoy your holiday and time with family and friends and just try and eat your carbs at night if youre going to. Get back on track when youre done.

Brandon D ChristParticipantCarb backload. If you can stay low carb until dinner you should be fine. If that isn't possible than skip breakfast. Regardless you should easily be able to return to the diet once you are back home.

FairyGuestHow can I try to limit any 'damage' I do over those days?-- Like Ibo said, you should still be able to have black coffee for breakfast, and try to delay eating carbs until late in the day. If you like, you can also choose to eat less carbs when you have the option available; and if you really want to get serious about it, you can do fasted HIIT or some form of RT 3x that week as a form of glycogen depletion/damage control. What can I expect when coming off a ULC diet that quickly?-- Sudden gain of water weight; don't worry about itWhen will my body stop burning fat as its primary energy source?-- As soon as you ingest carbs 😉 But don't worry, it will stay 'better' at burning fat than it was previously. Still do a 10 day re-prep when you get back.Apart from the obvious 'don't gorge yourself every day' can anyone spare any advice?Don't stress 🙂 Don't binge. Skip breakfast; fill up on meats and limit carbs where possible.
