SurferKeymasterHiI really miss my veggies and I know there are heaps of low carb diets out there that advocate eating heaps and heaps of veggies (i.e. Fighter Diet) and I was just wondering, why people on here seem to avoid veggies? Stef

FairyGuestHey Stef,The Truth: For a long while I bought veggies, and threw them out. And I got sick of throwing them out so I stopped buying them.I do like to have a powdered greens drink though. So, yeah. We probably *should* eat at least one portion of eggs a day. I'm just so NOT hungry, and eating is such a chore that I struggle to get enough protein in, and that's my priority.

You can eat them, I just think they are more trouble than their worth when it comes to buying them and preparing them. Keep your carbs under 30 g and you are fine.

Cory McCarthyMemberBuy them frozen… things like spinach, kale and broc.Minimally cook them up, and eat.I do about 150g of one of the above, per day. Usually around 3-4pm.Cory

SurferGuestCooking them is not a problem for me, I love it! I've always eaten loads of veggies (of the low-carb kind of course) and I especially love to make chicken soup with tonnes of veggies and having a semi-vegetarian boyfriend, who cooks and eats about a 1kg of veggies everyday it seems a shame not to take advantage of that. So I think I'll just start supplementing my meat-and-eggs with veggies, wohoo!Just thought there might be something wrong with them, since people seem to be avoiding them like the plague 😛

MikehrMemberThought Id jump in here and ask do you guys count the calories in things like spinach and celery? I eat probably a handful of spinach or a few stalks of celery and since they almost all fiber I figured it was fine and I have always been told that since they are so fibrous they take more calories to digest than they provide? and a cup of spinach has like 5 cals seems like kind of waste of time to count em.(I do count the carbs and calories in green peppers and green beans though cause it is much more significant)

I don't count calories at all so, no. But your body doesn't digest fiber, bacteria ferments fiber into short chain fatty acids and we use that as fuel. To answer you question, all the vegetables in the ULC veggie list do not have to be counted because they are so low in usable carbs you probably won't go over the 30 g limit.

It's in both the CBL and CNS books.

SurferGuestOff topic-question here, but I've been wondering about cardio. When in Oz I surf about 5 hours every day - is that bad?I'm not gonna stop, I was just wondering about the effects in combination with CNS?

You should be fine after the initial prep phase youll probably have better endurance and energy when running on fats.

You're fine, CNS works for everybody. Kiefer uses a variation of this diet for marathon runners.

PhattyMemberSpinach, broccoli, sprouts and cauliflower are pretty much a staple of my daily diet. I try to get a good 200-400g of either a day for the sake of fibre. Sprouts fried in butter with seasons is currently my favouite veggie.I usually use frozen veg, defrost/part cook it in the microwave and then fry it coconut oil/butter to give it some flavour.
