LumberJackedMember50's style American Diner in the land of Aus. Great place. The dessert was a 1/2lbs peanut butter cup, deep fried with whipped cream, ice cream and chocolate sauce. Glory in it's purest form.

ReisParticipantPersonally, I would just enjoy the vacation and re-prep upon return.
+1.Live your life and enjoy. Certainly use discretion and don't go ballistic, but if you time them right the carbs can work for you. And when I went to Italy in '06 they had eggs and inexpensive fish dishes in most cities I visited. I also had salads and tasty chicken dishes that were within a few Euros of most pasta dishes. The quality of their produce was exceptional and within the budget of what you'd find in the U.S.Do not stress about this. You will make it work.

I always heard that Italians really don't eat much pasta and that huge pasta meals is an Italian-American thing.

I went to Venice for a week, and I can confirm that I lived of pasta, pizza and pastries.

Did you spend with an Italian family where you ate their homecooked meals? Or did you eat at restaurants? It's a big difference between the two.
