AugustKeymasterDoes Creatine have any place on the Carb Nites Solution? (On Carb Nites . . or at other times?) What is the relationship b/t Creatine and insulin. I have the impression that Insulin might be need in order to get good uptake/utilization of Creatine, is that right? Does Creatine Spike or blunt . . or otherwise affect insulin levels right after it is taken? I sort of have the impression that Creatine might be beneficial for glucose metabolism, right? . . but if that is right is might be for Creatine supplementation over a relatively long period of time as opposed to the immediate effect of taking Creatine . .

Yes yes yes! Chapter 29 in CBL is about creatine and I think Kiefer posted a recent Tubecast about using creatine for both CBL and CNS. All from CBL:We make creatine... it's used metabolically in the regeneration of ATP from ADP and AMP (basic energy metabolism), so supplementation enhances muscle performance (more reps and more power).More recent research suggests that creatine is also anti-catabolic, so post-workout it helps to limit the normal muscle breakdown by blocking myostatin and hence improving muscle repair and growth.I don't think that creatine needs insulin to be absorbed or that it spikes insulin. I don't think that it has a direct influence on glucose metabolism, but rather on ATP energy directly and enhances the amount of glycogen that muscle can store.

Excellent post! Thank you! I didn't know that creatine was closely related to the ATP; that's interesting! I will have to try to learn more about that relationship . . . I think it might be very helpful in my situation! What is the best way to take Creatine . . it seems a little chalk-y. Is it heat sensitive . . are there certain macronutrients that it is better (or not ) to take with Creatine?

MikehrMemberYou do need a small amount of insulin to absorb creatine effectively so Take it with meals, and/or pwo with your shake. The myo-statin article kiefer referenced is extremely interesting but those used was up to 60g a day... Haha i am pushing 30 now and I notice much better ulc pumps and muscle fullness but make sure to get your water intake up high!
