s2brhallMemberI have read several comments about the slingshot in different threads but I haven't seen this addressed. I have banged up shoulders, one is surgically corrected (and ingreat shape now) but I am affraid the other on is on its way to needing to be fixed also. When I bench press my shoulder aches, sometimes very painfully, and it will continue to ache for 1 – 3 days afterwords. I use a mostly powerlifting form for benching which has helped a lot. I stopped benching though and just do the first phase of the CBL bench challenge and that has helped with the pain. Would the slingshot help with protecting my shoulders during the bench press and maybe allow me to get back to benching again? Let me know what you think.Cheers and Happy New Year!

Yes I believe that is what it was designed for originally.

Myself as well as Cutt are using them so you can check our logs for my info/advice.Coming from a 365/385 raw bench, i can put 405 on the bar and my shoulders actually feel better than if i had benched raw. I also had previous shoulder tweaks (no surgery) and got really frustrated with heavy benching for the longest time and had been looking for the cure. helps you maintain form and power out-of-the-hole and the lockout is pretty much raw/unassisted in my opinion... Definitely invest in some heavy-duty wrist wraps because you'll be going heavier than your joints are used to!

s2brhallMemberWhich version would you recommend, the original, the reactive or the maddog?

I think Mark Bell recommends the original if you never used one before.

Well the slingshot becomes quite effective when moving at least 315 on the barbell. If you plan on using less then stick with the original. If you plan on going above that like 400+ then you COULD get the maddogg if you wanted to. The main thing is that you have to have quite a bit of weight on the bar for the slingshot to actually be effective(with the maddogg at least). The maddogg is a little stiffer, made for guys who are going to put up 400+ more regularly, at least that's what i've seen so far. I personally like to do high rep sets with 315, so i went with the original. I wouldn't get the reactive, even though its cheaper.
