Sherylea HurstParticipantDoes anyone know or have any experience with contest prep using modified carb nite ( as Alex uses)? I would like to consider doing another figure competition but I would only do it using the DH protocol…..just not sure how to start or what this prep might look like? If anyone can help me out I would really appreciate it? Thanks in advance 🙂

EMS218GuestHi Sherylea! I am currently using CN for my contest prep. The short answer is: it's an experiment, but I think it can be done. I am currently just under 8 weeks out from my next competition and planning on using CN all the way through my prep. I can tell you what I do- I am currently 5'7'' 113# and use CF as my primary training. I do supplemental work after CF and some HIIT depending on my schedule, etc. I am currently having a CN every 5-6 days but it will switch to to once a week when I am a month out. I personally don't do carbs after I workout. I train at 5am fasted (caffeine only.) I do count and track my macros because I dont want to undo all of the work i put in before my first comp. My first carb nites were all out and crazy-now I am cleaning them up. Staying completely gluten free and using sweet potato, etc. My refeeds are around 5 hours and I have been playing with carb amounts trying to find what works for me. I am now staying on the lower side to ensure I can deplete each time before my CN. I don't believe the all out 8 hours of binge carb eating will work for contest prep. 😉I'm happy to talk to you in more detail, but that's what I am currently doing. I am continuously tweaking but I don't feel like I am very far from where I need to be. I don't plan on cutting my calories much, but maybe increasing HIIT as it gets closer if I need to lose more fat.Good Luck!I hope this helps!Erin

Thanks!Yep I'll be running it again.I've been all over the place with jobs and travels so I wasn't to sure if I'd compete again this year. But things have settled and it looks like I'll aim to be back up there in october. I'll have the daily log going for the whole 12 weeks, and hopefully I'll start doing a few more mosts in the build up to the cut. Thanks for the support 🙂Btw - I'm currently using CBL and sitting at about 98-99kgs at around 10-11% BF. can't complain haha
