sledneck789KeymasterTonight is supposed to be my carbnite. Should i train RIGHT before i start it or can i train earlier in the afternoon and just start the carbnite later around 5-6ish? I know during CBL your supposed to backload for the next days training but i'm not sure that it matters with CNS correct?

Scope75GuestRight before you CarbNite is best.

Richard SchmittModeratorIt doesn't matter that much but if you have a lagging body part you want to bring up, it's best to train that area before the CN.

Scope75GuestTrue but I believe working out right before the start optimizes the spike we are all after, and will help strip the fat of you too. The more gluts the better.

sledneck789Guestwell i always like to have leg day on carbnite because i'm finally back to a point where i can train legs again…so realistically i should go train about 330-4pm and start carbnite 5-6pm?

Richard SchmittModeratorSounds like a plan

Scope75GuestWhen I get back on my feet I'll probably do squats and deads before every CarbNite.

Richard SchmittModeratorI always train Deads and Back before my Nite

Scope75GuestI'm about to hit biceps, triceps, chest, lats, and back as soon as I finish my coffee. I'm already sweating.

I thought it was best to train that lagging body part the day after a CN...? Not sure what the rationale would be for working that body part immediately before getting the carbs in.

Richard SchmittModeratorHave you not read the CBL book nor listened to some Podcasts?

There is a for and against argument here. Obviously training the lagging muscle before will mean that it gets the nutritional benefits of "some" of the carbs but training after will mean you will be able to use much higher volume for that workout. Both methods have merit!

Appreciate the condescending response.I haven't read CBL, but I have read CarbNite... and I have listened to some of of the more recent podcasts. Listen to the Chaos & Bang Your Earballs Podcast, for example (with Paul Carter and Jamie Lewis). I get the idea that the lagging muscle will get some of the carbs if done pre-CN, but I would think the benefits would be far greater if waiting until after the CarbNite when you're actually amped and can go for some PRs. I know my best workouts are the day after my CN, and Paul and Kiefer mention similar experiences if you listen to the podcast. (http://www.lift-run-bang.com/2012/10/chaos-and-bang-your-earballs.html)

Scope75GuestWhat about doing some light lifting or body weight exercises during your 6-8hr CarbNite??
