leroynaardenKeymasterHi guys,Just wondering if any of you experience weight/water gain for more then one day after your CN?It seems like I gain more weight during the night following CN. (For instance, CN on Sunday and more weight gain from Monday night to Tuesday morning then from Sunday night to Monday morning)Am I doing something wrong (to many/little carbs on CN) or is this typical?Thanks..

Alexander BaurParticipantYou eat 6-8 hours on your CN and probably don't drink very much during the Nite (so do I because I'm too full from food). Afterwards your glycogen stores are full and ready to hold water which you may drink over 14 hours the next day. You get it?Your weight will normally come down the 4th or 5th day after your CN

This. I find it funny that people expect their body to process a kg of carbs while they sleep. It doesn't work like that, you digest that stuff well into the next day.

Alan TorellMemberRemember that for every gram of glycogen that you load (somewhere between 300-500 depending on muscle mass), you will retain 3 grams of water. It may be that, as an earlier poster suggested, that you are still a little dehydrated the morning post CN and you then rehydrate that day. Result is a higher weight the following day.I haven't experienced this but I push the water pretty good during CN. It does take 2-3 days before I start to drop as the glycogen is used. For example, I weighed the same this morning (Tuesday) as I did Sunday morning after CN. That has been the typical pattern. Then by the end of the week, I'm usually down a pound or more from my prior dry weight (morning pre-CN).

I tend to hold water through about Wednesday, after a Saturday CN. It is usually tapered off quite a bit by Thursday, and I am dry for a weigh-in on the following Saturday morning.Cory

leroynaardenGuestThanks guys. I already figured that the glycogen I load during CN probably doesn't have the chance to hold it's max amount of water during the few hours following the CN. I was just wondering if this is typical, since it seems like a lot of people say they look "more ripped" the day after a CN. Something else. I don't know if any of you use the CBL shake (without dextrose) after a midweek workout. But my data shows I'm even heavier the day after that workout when I have this shake (even though there's no carbs in it)I'm not at all worried about this, but I found it peculiar. Any of you experience the same thing?

RichmanGuestJust so I don't even think about my water weight gain after my Carbnite, I only weigh myself the morning of my Carbnite. This gives me good info on where I stand from week to week.

I use the CBL pre and post-workout shakes (sans dextrose) - I haven't noticed what you describe, but I have not really paid attention to that possibility and I don't have a comparison with not using the shakes.

dgibsonMemberI still weigh myself after carb night and record everything in a spreadsheet. It's good to see the trends, IMO. Sure, I'll “gain” 5+ lbs after a carb night, but I'll drop 3+lbs by the next morning's weigh in and a couple more the following day, so I'm back to normal or close to it a few days out. How quickly I make that return also helps put into perspective how short I can cut my ULC phase. And when I start cleaning up my carb nights I want to see the difference it makes there too, if any.
