John LaPlaca JrMemberGood find and good information however this is just WAY TOO MUCH over thinking. As helpful as this information is this information can cause a lot of anxiety and people worrying about the little things when people have gotten great results on this diet eating up to 6 times a day.

John LaPlaca JrMemberIts hard to change your thinking...Ive been to Phil Heath seminars he says one thing someone says something else. I was radical for my time doing the Body Opus. Fat protien 70-30 ration 5 days in a row 2 days super high carbs with protien for 2 days repeat..I was called crazy when everyone was eating oats and egg whites! lolol. Im 41.
It is hard to change your way of thinking. I started working out in 2002 and that's when Body For Life by Bill Phillips was really popular and the first health/workout information I latched on to. 6 balanced meals a day, cardio 3 times a week, etc. A lot of this was tough to shake and come into CN with a new mindset otherwise I would have failed from the start. On days I workout I have 3 meals, PWO shake, and something small before bed. Non workout days is the same minus the PWO shake and depending on what I have going on Sunday mornings I skip the late snack.

PhattyMemberThe problem with nutrition is that everybody thinks they know what's best. Be it the old granny warning you about cholesterol in eggs, a doctor telling you red meat is dangerous or the keto advocates swearing none of the former matters and all you need to do is cut carbs out. Then you have the IIFYMs crowd telling you to eat whatever/whenever, overzealous paelo vegans and...aaaarh the internet can be such a head ache when it comes to this stuff.I personally like to think nutrition isn't an exact science and what works for me, may not work for others.

A paleo vegan? That's interesting...Back to the original topic, I find the issue of protein raising insulin to be less relevant than the fact that a good run on CNS means that for 6.6 days a week, there is almost no extraneous glucose for insulin to transport into fat stores. I mean, working out raises insulin too, but we don't stop exercising on CNS.

Where are you getting that working out raises insulin levels?

I picked that nugget up from someone on the forums, talking about the insulin effect of PWO whey protein isolate being irrelevant because insulin was already at work after resistance training.

I'm not sure where they got that, exercise doesn't raise insulin. It raises cortisol which are antagonistic hormones.

MikehrMemberYup your actually insuliant resistant after a workout which is why you need the Glut4 to transport glucose to the muscles, this is great because glut 4 is gonna take glucose to fat cells. This is another one of the those optimal things, look at the CnP diet shakes all day long and one huge fattty meal at the end of the day, the guy is shredded and has never or will do cardio lol. Also people forget keto diets work fine without a lot of fat, you just feel like shit, and muscle preservation wont be anywhere near as good. I dont worry about insulin spikes eat two large meals and shakes peri-workout
