ZachKeymasterI have been following CBL for the past few weeks with the goal of a slow gain.I have read the book, but still have a few questions regarding fasted training (around 11am-12:30). I usually backload the night before a workout as the book states and then take a serving of blend H with 5g leucine and 5g creatine (sans carbs) PWO. The problem is that I have to start work very soon after my workout and would like to get a whole food meal in before I start my shift. Otherwise, I will not be able to eat a whole food meal until the evenining (my only one). Therefore, what should I include in this meal (I know protein, veggies, and fat) and how bad is it to eat this meal roughly 30 min. after my PWO shake. Will the fat in this meal decrease the insulin spike? Should I refrain from fat in this meal and just have protein and veggies? Also, why do higher GI carbs the night before a workout lead to a bigger insulin spike during the fasted morning session as stated in the book? Thanks!

MrEBGuestI work out in the morning as well. 6:30 to be exact and it looks like we share the same restrictions with eating. How are things going with your program? I've been on this for two weeks and have not seen much but it's still early. I do have a question, a section of the book calls for fasted training to eat big the night before, but the example plan in the back of the book states the opposite. Which is right?

AciDMemberI don't want to start new topic. Is it okay to go 16hours without meal, but some time after waking up [so that would be like 12-14th hour of not eating] just take a coffee+ coconut oil?

That's what almost all of us do.

Trevor G FullbrightModeratorYep. For fat loss this is best.Keifer has started if you are doing DB then do that AM shake,if you are aiming for fat loss, coffee with some CO is best.

MrEBGuestDinner the night before would be somewhat heavy trash, but I still mix in veggies. The next morning, wake up -I have coffee with HWC, isolate and creatine, 6:30am – work out. PWO shake minus carbs, sixty minutes later low carb meal. All this happens before noon. Starting at noon, I start carbing up….Do you guys/gals think I'm good?

You still want to wait till the evening to eat carbs. After 5-6pm so that insulin sensitivity drops.
