I'm 64 (next week) I've been informally doing resistance training off and on over the years – well before any of you “kids” were born.  I want to engage more consistently and have been on CNS for 3 months – lovin' it.  I can do 50 pushups, leg lift 185 lbs on machine. 5' 8″, 164#, 13% BF. Training time is limited to about 45 minutes. I downloaded SW for iPhone  - flashy - but I don't have a clue where to start.  I have access to a pretty good set of machines - my workplace provides a gym. Free weights are limited (liability  - no spotters, trainers)  Heavy barbell squats and dead lifts are not available.  So limits some of the SW exercises. I don't know how to work the machines into the routine. I don't know the lingo on sets and reps. Why select one routine over another?  Does one change routines over the course of a week, a month, randomly?  I've always done 1 set to failure with some success.    My goal is to maximize my health, vitality and sex appeal (yes, even old farts like to have fun)Is there one place, one book, one web page where I can go to get started? ThanksPaul

Sadly I cannot help very much with shockwave, in terms of general training however, usually the more advanced you are i.e. stronger. The more you have to switch things up in order to illicit your bodies stress/adaptation response. Since you say you have been on and off for many years I would suggest switching it up every few months. If you feel like you are not making progress and you say you have limited machines an easy change would be to change the order of your exercises. Since you say you are using the gym at work I am going to assume a Mon-Fri work week. In that case an Upper/Lower body split could be useful because of your lack of access to free weights.Sorry about not being able to give you an awesome answer but there is my .02
