storm47MemberAt the end of Nov 2012, I purchased the ebook of CBL and skipped the Prep Phase since I was going to do the Density Bulking program of CBL. After months doing CBL, I had no energy during the “Ultra Low Carb” part of the day. I believe that my body never became fat adapted since I skipped the Prep Phase. So now, I am starting over and doing the Prep Phase. Today, I am on Day 6 of the Prep Phase. Since Day 1, I have been waking and doing a.m. fasted HIIT and resistance training (alternating upper and lower body routines everyday to deplete glycogen). On day 6, I have more energy than I have had in the past eating “Ultra Low Carb” so I hope my body is becoming “fat adapted”. I am a 5' 9" and a 42 years old maleDay 1: weight 128 poundsDay : weight 125.25 poundsDaily Macros:Approx. 130 grams proteinApprox. 130 grams fatUnder 30 grams carbsUpon waking:Caffeine pill Caffeinated coffeeNicotine Gum (For energy and to reduce hunger)Fasted Hit (30 sec Active then 1 minute 30 sec Rest with 10 Intervals)Resistance Training (30 to 45minutes)Meal 1:BCCA4 Eggs cooked in coconut oil, butter, and full fat cheeseAlmonds MCT OilMeal 2:Fatty SardinesAlmondsRaw Broccoli (2g grams of carbs)MCT OilMeal 3:Calf LiverFull fat cheeseAlmondsRaw Broccoli (2g grams of carbs)Meal 4:Casein Protein Powder mixed with almonds and flaxseedI have read on the forum that the macros should be 1 gram of protein and 1 gram of fat per pound of body weight and under 30 grams of usable carbs a day. The ebook states that the Prep Phase helps the body and brain to use ketones for energy. But other Ketosis Diets state that with 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight will cause the body to convert the protein to glucose instead of ketones for the body and brain. So, every morning I have been doing HIIT and resistance training to use up any glycogen from protein from the previous day. Should I reduce my protein intake to help the Prep Phase use ketones for energy? Also, during the Prep Phase should I stop am fasted HITT and resistance weight training? Any recommendations or changes to my plan for Day 7 through Day 10?

AustinHGuestI do not think your eating to much protein, I think it takes closer to 2x body weight to have an effect, and thats without training.Keep training during prep phase, as it goes on you will not feel as great, but I actually set a PR during my prep phase so theres that. Just keep your fats high and you will be good.Im not sure you need the BCAA's, but everything else looks about spot on.Watch your almond intake... carbs can add up fast.. But as long as your eating a reasonable amount, your fine.

Big_RParticipanti think there are also usable carbs in 1oz of almonds.. might want to double check your portion sizes if you aren't sure- don't reduce protein intake- stop doing HIT in general - you are density bulking so you don't need to do this... just resistance training.

This is why I recommend people not eat nuts. They aren't satiating and are super calorie dense while being low volume.I've eaten 1lb of Brazil nuts in a sitting over a 10 minute time span and was still hungry.

k0sTiMemberYou can eat nuts as a snack, but measure them beforehand and only eat those… Don't try to convince yourself you're only going to eat a handful. It's not working, you will end up eating much more 😀
