thezukimanParticipantWell I just started it for back squat, but I added 40lbs to my front squat last month š Partly due to the program but also due to LJ helping fix my form
That's great progress! So, I am rather unfamiliar w/ Smolov...I just have read it's suposed to help put more weight on your squat. Is it a program more for the novice or advanced? Also, is it just good for increasing squat weight? I am just curious b/c I am currently running Westside and I like to change it up after about 12 weeks on the same power lifting routine. Often I do bodybuiding workouts for a month to give me a break. Might look into this tho.Thanks.-Z
Yeah well its a really simple program but Id say its for advanced because of the volume it involves, squatting 4 days a week is rough if your recovery and eating isn't up to par. http://joshmahony.com/weights/smolov_jr_old.php I would add 10lbs a week.
Geez that looks rough. Thanks for the calculator, that'll be perfect a 3 week workout (trying something new). I will definately add this one to the quiver.Ā šJust curious do you PL or are you just trying to bring the sqaut up just because?-Z

No problem man, its brutally awesome š And no I don't PL but even as an aspiring Bber having a really strong foundation should be my goal now, and I wanna bring all my big 3 lifts plus OHP cause they all suck hahaDo you PL now?

Yeah a lot of BB used to be PL or do both (more so in the golden age). A good foundation is essential. My OHP is my worst lift as well.....good that it's not counted anymore (for me anyways)lol.Yeah I just got into it and looking to do my first meet sometime soon. I am at heart more of what I like to call a Power Bodybuiler lol, as I cannot shake my volume, drop set, post exhaust, etc..... loving roots.-Z

Training wise I've stepped back on volume and do a lot more intensity work. Using Westside you max twice a week on Bench and Squat/Deadlift. I stretch a lot more and have to really listen to my body when handling heavy weights often.Nutrition wise I haven't changed much as far as carbs dispersed throughout a week. I cut back my total by around 200-300g b/c my total work volume is lower. Now I load up more the night before the next evening'sĀ workout b/c I seem to need them more for fuel than recovery. I used to dump most my carbs after Legs and Back on CBL Heavy Duty..now I load most of them up b4 Max Bench and squat/DeadLift days.-Z

Westside will make your head spin, you thik you've got it down then you end up beind dead wrong!lol!Thank God for Ibob and him answering all of my gazillion messages, b/c he has used it in the pat. It helps to have someone w/ experience. He also gave me a word doc that details Chad Wesley Smith's (Juggernaut) take on WS w/12 full weeks of workouts (which was a huge help). If you are interested one day just hit me up.good luck w/ the BB sir.-Z
