Kiefer has said several times throughout CNS but I can't find any articles on Athlete.io about the reasons why grass fed beef is better. Anyone have a link handy that discusses the advantages of grass fed / grazing beef over the hormone injected crap they sell at major supermarkets? I live in central FL and there are cows grazing all over the place, yet I don't have a single local butcher that sells grass fed beef. I can special order it for a bout 3x the cost of supermarket stuff but… well to be honest it's hard to shell out that kind of money when you don't even know why it's important. Any help in directing me to some good information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Brian,If you buy it and spend the extra money (which I believe is totally worth it but I agree with you-hard to shell out)  make sure the beef is 100% pasture raised grass fed.  A lot of times it will say Grass Fed or Pasture Raised but that doesn't mean it is 100% (meaning they raise the cattle on pasture and/or grass (hay is grass and can be fed in feed lots) and then FINISH the cattle on grain so they gain weight and fatten up prior to slaughter.  If you google advantages of grass fed beef you'll find a TON of info but in a nut shell the meat is much higher in omega 3s (the fat that the typical american diet it way too low in)  Most diets are way too high in omega 6's and don't get enough omega 3s.  When there is a closer balance of omega 3s and 6s there is much less inflammation in your body as opposed to a diet high in omega 6 and low in 3.  This is a great reason to supplement with fish oil, etc.  Hope this helps! 🙂Good Luck!

Thanks! 😀 The Omega 3 nutshell was a big help. I'll do some searches to expand my knowledge on it, but the problem with internet searches is you end up with as much (or WAY more) bad information as you do good info. That's why I usually come to Athlete.io for nutrition questions.
