So last night was my first night of carb loading 🙂  My workouts are in the morning (5am) weights and two days of HIIT.  I was down 5lbs after my pre-phase.  So last night for dinner (7:30) I had chicken, asparagus and a baked potato.  Then about 1.5h later I had a handful of jelly beans and a bowl of cereal with a protein shake (before I headed to bed).  So this morning I weighed a 1lb heavier.  I would like to tell myself the weight doesn't matter as its my shape I want to change, become leaner.  But I'm a girl and weight always matters 😉  So here is where I am looking for some help/advice.  What should I be expecting within the next couple of days?  Should I expect my weight to fluctuate?  Does what I had last night for CBL look ok?  Thanks in advance for your help:)

First, you are right, don't worry about the weight as it only matters based off how you look.  Next thing, did you take in the amount of refeed carbs you were supposed to?  Last night was my first night too and I had to get right around 300g since i cut my baseline in half and still couldn't quite get there I was so full.  I woke up this morning just out of curiosity to weigh myself and I was the same weight.  When you complete your HIIT it should hit that weight back off, once again though, its not about the weight.  Plus you are eating low carb again today, so should knock a little off.  Just my opinion.  I may be way off, but thats how I understand.  The basic rule of thumb is to make sure on your BL nights you get high glycemic carbs (junk or clean) whatever you prefer as that is up to you.My breakdown from last night for a BL was:4 p.m- post workout shake5 p.m- sweet and sour chicken w/2 cups white rice7 p.m-4 slices white bread, with 4 TBS of nutella8 p.m.-1/2 c Ben & Jerry's Chunky Monkey w/5 homemade choco chip cookiesThat was 296g carbs, and like i said I needed right around 300g

Thanks for your response.  I don't think I quite hit what I was supposed to for carbs 🙁  I was just to nervous to take that much in all at once!  For the first time in a while I am starting to like what I see when I look in the mirror.  I'm lifting heavy again, and my clothes pre-pregnancy are fitting me perfectly!  You make some great points.  I am going low carb today and I think my body will just need to adjust.  I haven't taken my measurements so I think I will do that tonight so I have a better indication of what is changing.  How are you feeling?  How did you find the 10 days?  How are you finding your energy?  What kind of supplements are you taking?  I know lots of questions....

Great questions!  I am new also, so I am still learning.  I have been working out for years, but slacked the last year or so and decided to change my life.  So far so good.  Energy levels are great!  10-day prep phase went great, lost 7 pounds!  My biggest obstacle right now is balancing the protein and fat on ULC days.  I currently just take protein, pre-workout and daily vitamins.Everything I have read and all i have seen in the book, state its very important to meet the carb level on the refeed, since you want to spike your insulin levels.  My goal is to weigh a lean 180lbs, and the baseline for carbs on BL nights are 630g or so.  I took that multiplied it by 1.5 and divided by my 3 BL during the week.  Currently, I BL on Mon, Wed, and Fri.  Those are my weight days.  Tue and Thur I complete my HIIT.  Seems to work great!  I'll let you know in 1 month where I sit.  I am going to alternate my BL nights though as far as high glycemic foods.  Certain weeks I will eat junk and other weeks I will eat clean high glycemics just to see the difference in my bodies reaction.  Long term, cleaner is better, but everyone wants a treat every now and then.It is certainly a big challenge though getting all those carbs in on BL nights.  Unless you are used to eating like that and have trained your body to do so.  How bout you?

I train 4 days a week, but they change based on my work schedule.  I also play hockey 2 nights a week on top of my HIIT.  I don't count them as workouts, however they probably burn more calories then everything I do put together lol.  I have looked at my calories for BL it sits at the 190 mark I believe.  But like I said I was too scared to try it.  So I played it safe with a baked potato and a bowl of Cinamon chex, oh and a handful of jelly bellies.  For supplements I take caffeine (I don't drink coffee) and protein.  I have ordered some leucine but haven't actually tried it yet.  I would say I have always been a clean eater during the week and tend to binge a little on the weekends.  And when I say binge it usually entails candy...I love candy:)  I'm not a big fried food fan or pastry person.  Although ice cream can be a weakness 😛  Not being able to have fruit during the day is what I miss the most.  I love apples and watermelon and strawberries, especially this time of the year so that is where I will take advantage of it on my BL days.  My ultimate goal is to look and feel great in a bikini this summer:)  I know I'm cutting it kind of close as July 1st is this weekend, but hey better late then never.  I will do my measurements tonight.  10lbs loss would be great too, but I'm really not trying to focus on the scale.  10lbs would mean I would probably have to buy a new wardrobe and not really wanting to go there lol.  Lets check back in a month and reveal our progress ;D

Thanks for your response:). That helps me a lot. I didn't feel bloated and had a great workout the next morning. I just worry I'll sabotage myself somehow. The charts say I should be around 455grams carbs, I get about 200 grams. Should I aim for that 455?  Or like you said I'll have to just trial and error.  Thanks again for taking the time to respond.  🙂

those are examples and can even be used as a weekly goal, i was told to take the chart number dividing by training days and multiplying by 1.5 not sure where  it came from but it works pretty well for me but i would stick with what youve been doing, you can "overdo" it one day to see how it feels, if youd like, or if your a "hardgainer" you can get away with morepersonally I went overboard purposely to know what it feels like, and it was pretty fun lol
