I see people asking about whether you can do it, specifically on a prep phase or ULC and people say differently. I would assume that on an ilc or prep phase it would actually be beneficial. We all know common sense doesnt always work in this field but…… one would assume it could help if you arent able to get your full amount of calories in on a day like this, since it will halt metabolizing any other calories to metabolize the alcohol thereby preserving muscle mass. (being a family guy its kind of hard to get the reccomended calories or protein and fat when your out an about)

What is the question? Kiefer made a Tubecast video about alcohol.

sorry wasnt clear enough i guess, yea i seen it, i just see people asking about alcohol when he made it sound like it can even be beneficial. I think the fact that people were asking was what confused me the most because prep phase is no different than any other ulc day correct?

If you have alcohol during a ULC day or prep phase…then re do it.

The reason being? Is there some biological reason? It seemed in the video he said it was ok and can actually help preserve muscle mass

During a CN or Backload yes. It can help dry you out, depending on what you're using, for an on stage look.

Alcohol is an empty calorie…. You should never use it to fill macro needs… That's unhealthy.

I love beer, not quantity, quality. On CNS I've cut it right down, though I'm not a huge drinker. Anyway, what I do is if I feel like a couple of beers, I'll do my CN without alcohol, then the next night, I'll have a few, enjoy them, and then make sure my next CN is 6 and a half days after the night I had beers. So, sat is CN, I'll have a few beers Monday, next CN is a Monday. I also do hiit 2-3 times and make sure I lift twice between them. It hasn't stopped my progress. Alcohol should really be avoided, but I just love a well crafted ale or two. I'm also a 10 year home brewer with a 3 keg beer fridge. Since starting CN, I usually only have a few beers every 2 weeks ( or after every second CN ). I'm 5'8″ x 168lbs, so I don't find it a big issue.

Ok here's the thing:You actually can have alcohol when you are low carb, but you are going to stop all fat burning while the alcohol is in your system.  It's best if you avoid it completely, but if you are going out on an ULC night, it's not the end of the world if you have a few low carb drinks.

ok but would you also reccomend re starting if i did this on a prep phase, the fat burning isnt a concern just the effictivness of the prep itself

During the prep phase I would consider redoing it. Depends though on how much and how often you drank during that time. If people can't be 100% strict during the prep phase then odds are they won't last to do the diet in general.

I agree with this.  I think during the prep phase you should have no alcohol to make sure you are well adapted to burning fat.
