HotspoonsKeymasterGood day CBL-ers…Just a question.. Is it standard to get brain fog in the day using carb backloading? My job is one of design, concept and some mathematics... I used CBL in May with great results, I just felt in the day I was running below par and was very tired... This may be a case of not eating enough carbs in the night... Any advice?

HotspoonsGuestI used MCT oil with breakfast coffee and protein shakes, should I have used this more often or is coconut oil the way to go..?Also 30g of carbs is "allowed"...What kind of carbs can these be?

Ideally, your carbs while ULC should be coming from fibrous veggies, trace carbs from meat/eggs/cheese, protein powders, ect.

HotspoonsGuestI thought as much, although I was under the impression you do not count fibrous carbs as part of the 30g.. Ok, thats fine, what I was edging at is eating something with glucose in, in the day to ease my brain drain.. maybe a small banana in pieces throughout the day… What I have found is that with diets like carb nite, keto, bodyopus, ultimate diet where you actually change the fuel the brain uses from carbs to fats, I guess with CBL it doesnt happen seeing you always hit carbs in the evening, so your brain will always be looking for them in the day... Is this correct?

You don't count fibre but you do still count the net carbs.I'd guess eating small chunks of banana in the morning would spike your insulin. So that's not a great idea for CBL, in my opinion.

You don't want to aim for 30 carbs. You want as few of carbs as possible but the 30 guideline is giving you some breathing room with trace carbs.Once you are adapted you will feel better in the mornings and think better. Compared to the days where I ate carbs in the morning its a huge difference.

AlcaParticipanteat berries, serious, if you feel dizzy and like shit all the time (probably training to hard or whatever, fast metabolism and so on)why force yourself doing ULC? eat some fruit, works so good for me atleast, might be worth a try for you.But could also be bodyfat related
