I've read having lemon wedges in water first thing in the morning is good for you fat burning and help to alkaline the system. Will this cause an nsulin spike?

Depends on how much lemon juice your adding I suppose. I think in the morning just water, or coffee and water is enough as your body will be in a deep fast and burning fat like a steam engine burns logs. But as long as you dont go squeezing an entire lemon into your water it should be alright i would think.

I personally would just avoid sugar that early in the morning, half lemon might just do it….Drink a cup of coffee instead, much more effective + it will cause insulin resistance not an insulin spike.

I very much doubt itll have any negative effect. According to one nutritional data website a large (84g) lemon has 8g of carbs and 2g of fibre. So half would be 4g. Take out 1g of fibre (unless you are eating the lemon not just juicing it) and thats a whopping 3g of carbs. Not likely to make any difference at all.

True, but it will add to the carb count for the day, and I personally dont believe the “hype” behind that idea. + The ULC diet calls for Caffeine in the morning not lemon, so Caffeine is what I would suggest.

I think more important than anything specific to the lemon if you are looking to "alkalinize" yourself would be adequate minerals. So if you are going to have any water in the mornings (but any time really) I would salt it to provide sodium and consider getting some magnesium pills to take as well. Same effect without any calories or carbs.

Take the lemon if you want to increase your appetite,Other than that is just personal taste, but wont be much problem,And dont abuse it since too much acidic drinks can damage your stomach

I've been using about 1-2 tbsp every day in water or yerba mate, and have had no negative results.  If you're really stringent with your ULC macros, only use it pwo.
