My CarbNite – Success or Fail?

    I pretty new Carb Nite-ing.  I had my first carb nite last night.  During my regular days I eat low carb.  Keeping my carbs to 20g.  Instead of the 30g Kiefer suggests.  I was already a low-carber and use to it.  I didn't have to count calories really because fat is satisfying.  So I would have bacon and eggs and avocadoes and fat.  I don't get it why I'm reading how so many here in the forum are meticulously counting fat calories during the non-carb nites.  Aren't we supposed to counting carbs?  I thought it was correct to eat high fat/protein and low carbs.  If you're eating low carbs and low fat, isn't that a different diet and not CNS?

    First thing is that CNS doesn't suggest 30g of carbs. That is an upper limit. Your aim should be as low as possible, fiber excluded.As for the counting.. I log/count all my food mostly because I find it interesting. I have a weird analytical brain so I like to see the numbers when I look back. And Spatz brings up a good point; most people aren't tracking calories, they're tracking grams of macros. For some it's helpful to track the protein to fat ratios to make tweaks a little more direct if a stall should occur.It should also be noted that, to a point, the leaner you get, the more meticulous you have to be, so having that information could become valuable. It's all individual, and if you don't want to track macros; by all means, don't! A lot of people get too neurotic about it and it completely messes with how they view food. So do what works best for you!

    Thank you. I think I must having been confusing the macro grams with the individual gram count.  Ah, that really makes it much clearer for me.  I was a little confused.

    Thanks guys – I'll let you know how it turns out. I'm thinking a combo of Coconut Milk, lowfat or skim milk…how many fat grams should I aim for?

    You're not aiming but have fats in the last meal or two at least. Thought anything over .75g/BW would be a tad extreme

    For me that'd be roughly 177g…I was thinking more along the lines of 20-30g with my last meal...the ice cream. I believe that would be alright?
