chalmParticipantHey all, I’m 28, Male, US Navy Sailor. By Navy Standards I’m fit. I cut good run times, and pushups/sit ups. My pull ups are on par despite it not being a necessary movement as per the Navy. I’m part of anti-piracy team too, so I’m for sure more active than a normal sailor. Anyways, I’m deployed, and my buddy who has been on CNS for a bit sent me links and then I downloaded the book.I’ve been on IF for well over nine months, I love IF! I did it mainly due to horrible work schedule and deployment having poor food on ship and too much downtime. Why am I starting CNS? I want to look fit! I want to be 29 with a set of abs. My arms are ok size, you can tell I’m not a dough ball, but I’ve never had abs ever. Also want a flatter chest..I don’t have mobs, but I sure don’t have that chiseled chest either. Vanity, gotta love it!For deployment I’ve been doing lots of kettle bell and sandbag training. Plus using my jungle gym XT straps, LOVE THEM!I started Tuesday CNS. And lastnight I messed up! I didn’t do my homework before I hit the salad bar..well lack of a salad bar. I dug in the chick peas, probably had half a cup. Totally blew out my carbs, for over 50g for the day. SO today is re-launch day, which means next Tuesday is carbnight!I can’t wait to see results, I can’t wait to read more about everyone else’s experience and gain some MUCH NEEDED knowledge. ThanksChalm

chalmParticipantYou are welcome!FYI All, I'm 5'6 175lbs. Now three years ago I got up to 220lbs while my wife was pregnant. Thankfully deployment 2010 happened, and I got all the way down to 185 pretty darn quick!!! Especially considering the food we do have on ship.Once I switched to IF lifestyle, I've managed to get down to and stay at 175lbs without killing myself.

hey man i'm Coast Guard and yea its extremely hard to eat ULC while underway. For me i don't eat dairy or wheat products so it's pretty much impossible to follow a decent eating plan with what they serve here underway. Luckily i'm on a land unit now but currently tdy on a cutter for a few more weeks. IF is great though I still follow a 16/8 IF even while underway.. good luck with everything

Thanks! No doubt, I know, you know my pain then!!! Honestly today, food has been rough. We had zero greens out for lunch or dinner. Basically had nothing but 5 egss, 1scoop iso pure, 2 3/4oz smuckers PB, 1 hamburger patty, 1 brat, and some sauceless ribs. All of it nice an dried out and over cooked. That's great you're hitting shore duty!! I'm due in a year.

SpatzModeratorHey there!Welcome to the forum, you'll find plenty of information here as well as helpful individuals. I'm pretty impressed you're trying to do CNS while being stuck with military food! That sure takes some willpower when you don't have many options to choose from. I wish you all the luck!

Thank you! Yea I'm in dire need of solid non-bro-science info when it comes to carbs and the body. For me, its easy, minus when we get apples/bananas in on a food shipment. Other than that, the crap they have on board, I don't crave (candy/doughnuts/chips/soda). What makes it hard is getting other than fat/protien for the day, like green veggies. Can't wait to see where this adventure takes me!

Natalia WorthingtonMemberWelcome. I joined the forums (started Carb Nite) 2 weeks ago myself. There is lots of info here and, what is more important, lots of helpful and knowledgable people.
