Day 8 of prep phase. Not sure if on track??

    Hi,I'm now on day 8 of the prep phase and just not sure if things are going as they should be.  So far I made a mistake of having dextrose with my PWO shake on day 1, but since then I've had less than 30g of carbs each day, whilst still getting around 2300 cals a day.  After day 5 I had lost 1kg, but weighed myself today and have put on 0.5kg!?!  I haven't felt the mental lethargy either and have so far been to the gym 5 out of the last 8 days.Current stats:Height - 180cmWeight - 86kg (looking to lose my belly fat and gain some good muscle size)Prior to the prep phase I ate relatively clean, but still enjoyed a drink at the weekends and the odd bacon sarnie, so definitely wasn't low carb.Am I still on track to convert my body from burning carbs to fat as the preffered fuel source or should I throw in some HIIT like Insanity.  I guess I just want to ensure that I get this bit correct and don't start the back loading before I'm ready.Any feedback welcome  8)

    No feedback? Prob help if I put some specific questions lolIs it normal to not lose any weight?How do I know if I've depleted glycogen stores?Should I add in some HIIT before starting the back losing?Thanks

    IMO I would focus on abiding by the 10 day prep if you incorporate HIIT 3 x you may be able to shorten the duration to 7 days  of the prep as per book says .  I personally probably on day 4 felt a slight tired and weak but not symptomatic as some have described.  during my prep phase I did lose weight  as well and I did HIIT.  Hope that helps My Journey started 5/13 CNS now starting CBL

You say it definitely wasn't low carb, but that's kind of a subjective thought. Did you average more than 200g carbs per day? 100? etc.. Just dunnoHow do I know if I've depleted glycogen stores?They say that you'll know. That being said, I'm one of the people who doesn't really feel the low carb flu, so you could just be like that as well..Should I add in some HIIT before starting the back losing?Go for it. Except Insanity isn't HIIT. Do some actual HIIT and see if you "hit the wall" that lets you know you're depleted. ie, headache etc. (Check the youtube videos for HIIT prescriptions)Thanks

Weighed myself this morning and its now saying I'm down 3kg from 87kg, but have def eaten less today n yesterdayI'm now at the end of day 10 so should I just start backloading 2moro night or is it best to wait until I know it has worked for sure?

    I don't honestly know.  I am kinda expecting my body/brain to signal to me that I have now converted to burning fat over carbs.

    lol it won't.. one easy way to tell aside from having a blood ketone test done is you probably will notice a sharp decrease in hunger.. try having nothing but coconut oil in the AM and don't eat a thing till lunch.. if you function perfectly fine and aren't straving by lunch you probably are far enough along to start CBL..

    Cool, cheers. I'll give that a go 2moro.  Might only be able to have a shot b4 work, but hope that will do the trick.  Speaking of hunger, I am fecking starving tonight! 🙂

    my stomach can't handle pure MCT.. so i take coconut oil instead

    Now you both tell me lol  😀Decided to go with the backloading tonight on day 10.5.  So far I'm most of a pizza , half tub of Ben n Kerry's down.  It's hard work!!
