RNMemberI'm on CNS- 2nd week. My training time varies. I use a heart rate monitor when I lift and I noticed when I train in the morning (only coffee and a tablespoon of hwc) that my heart rate sky rockets! It's been higher than average when I train later in the day as well, but not quite so high. I know caffeine is a sympathomimetic and that would logically correlate to the higher rate in the a.m. Wondering if anyone else trains in the a.m. occasionally and has experienced this.

TCBParticipantCortisol is already high in the AM, also.. And exercising will boost cortisol a little more.. And cortisol is a “stress hormone” so that could be adding to it..

RNMemberHmm so is it less than ideal to train in the morning?
September 12, 2013 at 2:43 am #202379
TCBParticipantIdeal is the “evening.” I use quotes because “evening” depends on your personal circadian rhythm. That being said, I personally view morning training as the second best option. What kind of training are you doing in the AM? And honestly, I'd drop the HWC from the coffee pre-training. Go with straight black or just plain caffeine.

Perfect. Do you have the CBL book or just CNS? CBL has a chapter about morning training.Summary is to train fasted, except with coffee/caffeine. Then have a PWO shake, but since you're on CNS, you'd probably be better off doing it without carbs. So creatine/leucine/whey/maybe a little caffeine.

RNMemberJust CNS, I'm 17.4%bf and want to get to fifteen or lower! And you do think it's good for a pwo isolate (I have isopure zero carb) despite the early training time?

RNMemberPs thanks for the feed back!

Yep. As long as you're weight training with a decent intensity, you'll actually want to spike insulin PWO.. Just without carbs. So use some isolate (and/or hydrolysate), and some leucine and you'll be good to go. Then back to standard ULC the rest of the day.
