So in the past I asked the effects of Fenugreek ULC. This is because my Creatine Supplement Holds a relatively large amount in each serving. During the ULC portion I was worried that it might raise Insulin Levels. As it turns out (from the studies I have read) I should have been worried about taking it during CN and now during a BL. It has been shown in clinical studies to actually block the storage of glucose into muscle cells, and lowers blood sugar levels, yet does so without impairing insulin levels, and Improves insulin action.Quite an odd thing IMO, but the fact in the matter is taking a bunch of Fenugreek while your trying to replenish glycogen stores might not be a good idea. Time to switch Creatine Supplements for me..  >:(

Interesting. That just makes me wonder the interplay of the MTR from lifting causing tGLUT translocation, and the fenugreek..Because, say if the non-insulin-mediated-tGLUT response is unaffected by the fenugreek, it could actually be great PWO, as another way to boost insulin. But that's purely hypothetical on my part, ha.

To boost insulin response yes, but we want that response to be shuttling glucose into muscle cells. Fenugreek, from what I have researched, only does the first half of this. So possibly in an ULC-PWO it would be good, but when your looking to store restore glycogen it does not appear to be ideal.

Yeah, I got that. I guess what I'm getting at is what is the mechanism that is causing it to block glucose deposit into muscles? Is it via a mechanism of disabling tGLUT, insulin-mediated or not? Is it via a mechanism that effects insulin's properties on the muscle cells? etc..If the former, it wouldn't matter, but if the latter, it'd be hypothetically possible that you could still get tGLUT translocation from training, then include fenugreek and carbs in your PWO to get the best of both worlds. But who knows!EDIT: You'd also have to know/take into account the duration of the effect of the fenugreek on the glucose shuttling.. Science is interesting. 😛

These studies were taken 4 hours after ingesting white bread. Not sure of the direct mechanism that produces this effect. But as a general consensus i don't think after given this information I would go about adding fenugreek to my supplement regiment by trying to get any additional benefits. Based of this information I would, and am taking it out.

clearing glucose by possibly hasting conversion/storage to triglycerides/adipose perhaps?

It didn't say that it cleared Glucose, it said it blocked it from being stored in the tissue. So I suppose in doing so, it could be left to store into adipose tissue. Though directly PWO i guess it really wouldn't matter if that was the case(in terms of fat storage) Though it might inhibit optimal Glucose Storage to muscles still. Very interesting study none the less! Hope there are updates on the research soon.

Lowering Blood Sugar Levels doesn't definitively say its clearing glucose stores to adipose tissue. It says its clearing it from the blood. Not necessarily shuttling it into adipose tissue. Though like I said I understand the idea of it, but PWO it shouldn't matter much because of the hormones that we have turned on to inhibit such effect.

    I think I was sufficiently non-commital! (: It's got to go somewhere.
