cloudybrainParticipantHey guys, been experimenting with this stuff and I'm really liking the taste. I've been adding it to my french press almost every morning. However, there have been a few times when coffee by itself, or with a french press I'd get an upset stomach. It's more prevalent with the french press, and it's apparently due to the acidity level of it. Another problem is the fact that we don't recommend eatting anything in the morning, but we recommend drinking coffee; this can lead to a bloated feeling, stomach cramps, gas, etc.So I been playing around with this product called Prelief, not sure if anyone on here ever tried it. But I been trying it for a few days. It basically lowers the acidity of foods, not the acidity of what your stomach produces.Ever since I started incorporating it in my mornings, I was able to drink the coffee just fine.If anyone else had the same bloatedness as I did, give this product a go and let me know what you think. Or if there's anything else you guys might be taking to help with the bloated feeling.

Doug CollinsParticipantI dont' get bloated, but the MCT Oil or the butter (or a combination of both) definitely doesn't make it hard to go to the bathroom after you drink. I also use regular old medium roast instant coffee, so I'm not noticing a great deal of acidity. Maybe consider taking a probiotic daily. It was the smartest thing I've ever done with my digestive issues I used to have.

Brandon D ChristParticipantUpset stoach from coffee on an empty stomach is actually rather common. It happens me on occasion.

TCBParticipantIf you want to make the coffee less acidic, try cold brewing it.

wenz73MemberA side comment on digestion, stomach issues, and elimination:Everything has improved since I made it a habit to just not drink any liquids 2 hours after a ULC meal. My hunch is that this avoids the food getting swept out of the stomach before it has a chance to get broken down.I got the idea from the stomach emptying chart on this page:http://www.vivo.colostate.edu/hbooks/pathphys/digestion/stomach/emptying.htmlMight be coincidence, but since I started being mindful of this, I have not had any stomach upset with morning coffee, although it was never much of a problem to begin with.

It's often not recommended to drink lots of liquid with meals because it will actually "dilute" your stomach acid, thus making digestion much more difficult. If you're already suffering from hypochloridia (which a lot of people are, without realizing it), it can be exacerbated.
