I'd like to start a support thread for anyone who has a lot of weight to lose–like 75 pounds or more.  Anyone who has lost that much, or wants to lose that much, feel free to join!I lost about 100 pounds low-carbing about 13 years ago and kept it off for about 3 years.  Then I started having kids and was terrified about what I would do to my kids if I didn't eat healthy-whole-grains while I was breastfeeding. So I've slowly gained the weight back through each successive pregnancy (actually, I didn't gain much while pregnant, but always gained 20 pounds or more breastfeeding -- wierd!)  I have three boys, ages 3, 5 and 7, and a little 18 month old girl.  I also discovered that the more crap I ate, the more addicted I got to it, so have been trying to spend the last six months since weaning trying to get back on the low-carb wagon.  I have done ultra-low-carb and lost about 19 pounds from my high, took a little break, and only gained 2 pounds back, so that's encouraging.  I just listened to Kiefer and Rocky Patel on the Jimmy Moore show and what they said makes a lot of sense.  So I'm going to try it out!  I'll plan to post every couple of days.  I use FatSecret to track, not religiously, but every few days, just to see if I'm on track.  I love the feeling of energy and lack of hunger that ULC gives me.

Hello, I don't have that much weight to lose (only about 30-35 lbs and I'm male). However, my girlfriend has approx 100 lbs to lose and has been heavy all her life. She's 5'4″ and about 238 lbs. When I say 100 lbs I'm assuming a goal weight of 138 lbs. Nothing ridiculously lean. She's had a lap band that keeps her approx 40 lbs below her max weight and her whole family is on the heavy side. Trouble is she's had that band for over 5 years now and for most of that time, she's been around the 240 lbs mark.I've never had abs and so I'm excited to try and use these methods to get them for the first time. My girlfriend is very very "by the book" and doesnt like "conspiracy theories" or "alternative methods" as I do.So she doesnt believe that ultra low carb is healthy or even effective so I'm hoping to be the guinea pig of undeniable proof. She doesnt like to read either. If it comes to it that I finally get her on board, I'd be glad to post updates here

I haven't started as I planned, but hope to by tomorrow, which will still give me a full 10-day period before my first carb nite!bakare47--you should have your girlfriend read Jimmy Moore's N=1 ketosis experiment blog posts.  The last one is here, and it links to all of the previous ones (he posted monthly about it).  http://livinlavidalowcarb.com/blog/jimmy-moores-n1-experiments-nutritional-ketosis-day-331-360/18365 And if she won't even read some blog posts, she could listen to his almost 1000 podcasts, and maybe realize that this isn't so crazy after all!midcap--that's amazing!  66 pounds in 5 months!  Congratulations!  Any tips for those of us just starting?

Thanks will definitely check that out. Listening is the preferred option for her.Incidentally, I've been doing Carbnite fridays with a Saturday CBL for about 4 weeks. The last of which I was sick so there were lots more carbs. This has been a gradual progression over the past 2-3 months of going from 5 day CBL, to 4 day, to 3 day to 2 day. This week is the first week I'm gonna be just doing the 1 day and it'll be the same moving forward.Max weight - 96.6kg (I'm 5'11")Today's weight - 92.4kg (down over 9 lbs) (keep in mind for me there is abt a 5 lbs swing)More specifically, my sunday morning weights have been declining at approx 1 lbs per week (with 2 carbnites.wk thus far)So if it keeps up, it's so far so good. Fully confident that this is the week I re-enter the 91.'sOnce I hit 82kg, losing any more weight would be going backwards (I know my lean muscle is about 73kg)Aiming for 10% to finally see them abscheers
