GroogruxKeymasterI've been fat all the way from the time I was in the 1st grade until now. Although I didn't really think much about it until I moved to a new town, in a new state, in the 6th grade, and one of the first things a kid said to me was that he didn't want to share a group pizza with me because I was so fat.(I see him around every now and then and he's a fatty now, too. ;D)From that point on, I was always thinking about my weight. I tried Weight Watchers, the Atkins Diet (it wasn't really Atkins as much as it was bacon and eggs in the morning with grapefruit juice), and caloric restriction diets in all shapes and forms. Finally, I started losing weight and gaining muscle in 2011 on The Primal Blueprint. I lost nearly 60lbs and felt better than I did in my entire life. After being asked how I had did it so many times, I decided to start a small blog about my progress. The idea behind it was to let people read for themselves how I was doing, what was working, and what wasn't (I still post frequently @ http://fatnicians.blogspot.com/ [shameless plug]), and to also use it as a tool for accountability. It was a great diet, and all was going well until my wife of four years passed away in a car accident in June of that year. Left with a 3 year old son, a mountain of debt, and very little in finances, I slipped into a depression state that made me return to shit foods and sedentary days. I joined a local gym, but I didn't go as often as I had been, and I still ate like shit.Finally, I decided that I had went too long living that way, and decided to get myself back to where I was and progress further. I signed up for a Tough Mudder event, and gave myself 6 months to train for it. I returned to the Primal Blueprint and started exercising almost twice a week.The Tough Mudder came in October, and I went knowing that I shouldn't be there. The diet wasn't doing what it had the last time, and I seemed to only gain minimal results from the exercise. I was the second to last person to finish the course. At the end of December, a friend told me about Kiefer's book, and I decided to give it a shot since nothing else was seeming to work. I'm coming up on my 3rd Carb Nite this Friday. Honestly, I don't know what weight I started out at, as I haven't weighed myself in almost two months. I can safely say that I was at around 380 before starting this, maybe more. I know that I will be grumbled at for not weighing myself, but I plan to go in to the gym soon and see what I'm at. All I know is that I feel like I did when I was getting into the swing of Paleo dieting. My energy levels have returned, and I'm not as sedentary as I was.

FairyGuestHey Gro!Luckily, the more fat you have the faster you will lose it!! You may even gain lean mass while you do it.My advice to you is not to worry too much about measuring food. Just eat no carbs 6.5 days a week, and then do a CN one evening a week. You can't go wrong with that. You will lose the fat AND improve your metabolism and insulin sensitivity for life. Go for it. Commit to it, and get it done 🙂

GroogruxGuestThanks for the advice!Right now, I'm only doing an inventory of carbs every once in a while to make sure I'm staying on track. I keep a rough estimate in my head as to how much I've consumed for the day most of the time. I'm on my way to the gym right now to see what my weight is sitting at. I wish I would have weighed myself at the start of this to give myself solid numbers to work off of, but my body composition is getting better, so I know that it's working!

GroogruxGuestMy current weight is 364.8lbs. I hadn't weighed myself since 11/1/12 and I weighed 365.8 then. I'm figuring I put on 15-20lbs from then until I started CNS.
