CellarElfMemberForgot to do an update this past Tuesday (end of 3rd week). So, first two weeks I lost a total of 13 lbs…which is more than I've lost in over 3 months on a very low carb diet (10gm, 1200 calories, only non-starchy vegies). When I stepped on the scale Tuesday morning, I was shocked to see I was down another 4 pounds, so I'm now below that 200 mark! Woohoo! 17 pounds in 3 weeks for a sedentary 57 year old post menopause woman is phenomenal! On a side note, my husband (who is carrying about 40 pounds too many around his middle) stepped on the scale right after me and noticed that, for the first time since we've been married, he had to adjust the scale upward. He started on very low carb the same day and is going to do his first CN 14 days later (cuz he wants to do it on the same day as me but this Tuesday will only be 7 days on vlc for him).Love Carb Nite!

buttonwillowMemberCellarElf…..nice to meet another like me: sedentary, post-meopausal. I'm 3 days away from my third Carb Nite. For me, no weight loss has registered yet, but congrats on your achievement. Well done! Do you know about how many carbs you eat on your CN? I'm thinking this may be were I have to tweak my diet.

CellarElfMemberI took Kiefer to heart when he said 'women are different' and we might want to not go too overboard on the carbs. So my usual vlc is still about 10gm per day, 60gm protein (give or take a few) and 1200 calories. Fats come in at around 73%. On CN, I just do my usual bacon and eggs for breakfast. Then do my carb meal for lunch with a follow up carby snack a couple hours later, followed by my usual low carb dinner. I go to bed at 9 p.m. and, from experience, found that carbs too close to bedtime will leave me with acid reflux. My carbs are coming in at around 140-250 for the day. My meals so far have been lasagna, made with a bechamel so a little higher in carbs than one made with ricotta, with garlic bread and had the same thing my second CN. This past CN I had bbq ribs, baked beans and cornbread. The snack the first 2 CN's was cheesecake. This last time it was a slice of homemade carrot cake with cream cheese frosting (thus hitting 250 carbs for the day). I can't wait to step on the scale on Tuesday because, even though I'm only 4 days past my last CN, I feel like I've lost more weight...or maybe just redistributing it. I've noticed my stomach (which was always tough to lose) has gone down dramatically.I'm hoping after I have the surgery done on my elbow on the 27th, I will be able to start doing some upper body resistance training, but for now I haven't been doing any exercising.

buttonwillowMemberThanks for the input. I think I'll scale down a bit my planned carbs for the next CN. Last time I was utterly stuffed and unhappy at 260-275 g. of carbs; I'll aim for 200 next time. Unlike you I can eat right up to bedtime with no problem.
