NolimitathleteKeymasterJust curious if I am running a 531 program where I am lifting very heavy monday, tuesday, wednesday (sprinting), Thursday and friday. What days do I carbload on. I am still unclear that I should eat carbs on tueday night for example if I am doing a semi-heavy sprint session. Thanks for any help

NolimitathleteGuesthe states in the book do not load if you did not train.. It will not be a back to back off day for me just cardio on wednesday so I was wondering to load on wednesday if I have a heavy A.M. training session thursday?

Richard SchmittModeratorDid you read what TCB put for AM training?

NolimitathleteGuestYes I have read the book from cover to end. He says page 145 Do not carb load if you did not train, yet there a offday diet example at the end of the book with pizza and pwo shake. So I am confused.

beellyParticipantI think you're confused because of the sprinting aspect instead of weight/resistance training?I use 5/3/1. I used to do hot yoga in the morning on my wednesday off-day. When I did I wouldn't back load on Tuesday night. Now although hot yoga is pretty intense, its not the same as heavy sprinting, so I think this is where experimentation is key. I would probably start with either no carbs on Tuesday night or very small amount and see how you feel the next morning when doing your workout and adjust as necessary.

NolimitathleteGuestI do not eat carbs on tuesday night because I do not consider my sprinting day heavy at all. I am more concerned with what I will do on thursday morning which is heavy lifting.. So being I did not carbload on tuesday night should I carbload wednesday night to prepare for thursdays heavy training?

beellyParticipantyes. back load the night before resistance training when training in the morning.

That's more in regard to Density Bulking or A.M. Training. The general rule is to always run backloads post-workout. Alternations to this really just depend on if training takes place in the morning.

Richard SchmittModeratorI don't think you read the book thoroughly, it does give you two options to choose from. Density Bulking and Strength Accumulation. Two of which discusses the differences on how and when to backload. As well as when to backload in regards to AM Training.

NolimitathleteGuestwell as I said on page 145 he states and I repeat “do not backload on days you do not train”. All training sessions I do are in the morning and I use 531 method. Not trying to bulk in anyway just get strong as hell. So I am assuming on wednesday being I only really do some light sprint to medium sprint work I should not load that day even though I am training thursday morning very heavy. I wish I could say I knew where he explains this in detail because I have read the a.m. training section very well where he says load at night only if you are training the next day.. So this is where i come to my problem… He says in one part of the book DO NOT carbload if you do not train, yet in the am training section he says to carbload if you train the next day!

TCBParticipantYes. Backload Wednesday.

beellyParticipantDude, when he said 'don't backload that day if u don't train' he's referring to those people who are training in the early evening 'optimal' training time. Since u train in the morning this doesn't apply. He also states in the book that if you train in the morning that you backload the night before( as you Know). So in summation: Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday nights you backload. Tuesday, Friday and sAturday, do not back load.
