I wanted to share my experience on CBL DB so far. I have gained 7lbs in 24 days on this diet. My specs are 194lbs in the am, up from 187lbs and currently on my 8th week of wendlers 5/3/1. My lifts are 410lbs on the bench with the slingshot, 450lbs squat, 405lbs deadlift, and 185lbs military press. The weight gain has not been all muscle, I have gotten smoother from the diet but strength is unbelievable. I would say that my protein intake is around 200grams and backloading has been around 150g max. My carbs are mainly in the form of dextrose, ice cream, sweat potatoe and some pizza. Is it normal on the density bulk to pick up some body fat, and do you guys think I am eating enough carbs. Right now my workouts are in the am, but will move them to the evening for the sweet spot per kiefers suggestion. How do you upload vids so I can insert my bench lift?

Great work man!! Awesome stuff. Now it is normal to gain body fat during a Density Bulk. Can go do CBL Strength Accumulation to drop body fat if you wanted. Also to upload videos I'm not entirely sure but maybe post a link to a YouTube page with your bench on it.

Your saying your backloads consist of 150g of carbs max and you are doing DB correct?

I am using the DB suggestions on all the shake formulas, plus my night time carb consumption totals roughly 150g.

babies eat more than this! Kudo's on your strength gains but I dont see how you are gaining any weight let alone smoothing out with only 150g. How much carbs are in the shakes you are taking?

    What's your diet look like?

On workout days, I eat 150 grams of protein until roughly 6pm with very little carbs, definitely under the recomended 30 grams. Then for dinner, I will down a chicken breast or equal size of steak, with a large order of wendy's fries or home made sweet potatoe fries. I will finish dinner off with a bowl of ice cream, roughly 4 big scoops. Two hours later I will drink a hypertrophic potentiator shake before bed. On off days, I will eat the same protein intake until dinner time, then for dinner, chicken breast with green beans or salad. Right before bed, some cottage cheese or whey isolate, no back loading on off days.

I do SA but I would think you need more carbs to create the insulin spike. I could be wrong, but 150 seems really low.

150g Carbs???    That's not Density Bulking protocol -  you need to triple that, for starters! and if your DB then your backloading 7 days a week (if your really trying to put on the weight).  I personally never count the first 5 pounds of weight gain because it's much attributed to increase water retention (the smoothness you are seeing) and glycogen stores are more full, in my experience. Also, Upload your video to photobucket and come here and post the "IMG" code in the posting... then we can click on it and watch.

I agree 150 g of carbs is not enough for DB.  How you gained bodyfat fat is beyond me.  What is your fat intake like?

Hey cutt, my first couple days of CBL on DB looked like this too and anticipate it to continue....more than likely higher in carbs. How have your results been?

I was back loading everyday but cut back to workout days only. I may have mis calculated my carb intake, as wendys large fries or there equivalent, 4 scoops of ice cream, and later on another hypertrophic shakes seems more than 150g of carbs. I am not really looking to get any heavier on the scale, but rather a body recomp. I would like to stay around 195lbs where I am now, but drop my BF% to around 9-10%. Anything lower than that will start to look to freaky for my liking.I would say that my BF% in these pics, and right now is around 14%....Here is a couple before pics before I started CBL:FxCam_1330431609894.jpgFxCam_1330431632792.jpgFxCam_1330431669409.jpgFxCam_1330431684557.jpglegshot.jpg

To me, your goals (maintain muscle drop bodyfat / recomp) indicate that Strength Accumulation may be a better fit for what your trying to do.  Density bulk is for maintaining levels of fat while increasing muscle at a maximal rate. Either way you go,  it's imperative that you increase the amount of carbs your eating... at least immediately PWO or shortly there after.  And if you are only back-loading on workout days, you are already following more of a CBL SA protocol anyway.  are those before pics at 14% ?  Looks good.Cheers!
