So, I've just got a few things I want to clear up (questions 'n such) as I move forward with CBL.  First, a bit of a refresher.  I joined the forum about 2 weeks ago, having just purchased CBL 1.0 and it has been immensely helpful to me thus far.  Up until I did my prep phase the week before last, I'd been dieting down for 2-3 months.  I'd been using a protocol similar to that of CNS, something referred to as "Skiploading", before that it was known as "S**tloading".  It involved going low carb (not super low, about .5g/lb. on off-days and 1g/lb on training days) during the week and loading up on all the crappy carbs I could on Sunday mornings.  I did it for at least a month and a half and it did get me some decent results, most notably I had more energy during the first 2 or 3 workouts each week, which helped me to stick with lower carbs every day.  The idea was that during my load I'd put on about 5-6 pounds (water retention) between Sunday afternoon and Monday morning.  That weight would be expected to drop off by maybe Thursday and then a couple more pounds would come off by Sunday-you get the idea.  As of 2 weeks ago, I got down to 164ish lbs. and about 9-10% bodyfat with that approach.  My waist was 30 inches, which is almost as small as my wife's.  My approach to eating for the past couple of years has been extremely regimented and I think it's been the source of a lot of stress in my life.  Then I read about CBL and I immediately though it would suit me.  I did the prep phase and got down to 160 lbs, though it was only about 7 days and started backloading the Monday before last.  I trained for 6 days straight and backloaded after each workout.  I went a bit (understatement) overboard with each backload and at the start of this week I'd put on about 10 or 11 lbs.    I'm not totally surprised by that given the amount of crap I ate during each backload, and I'm sure it's almost entirely water weight, probably a bit of fat. As a result  I look really, really soft right now. Aside from stepping on the scale, I didn't keep track of anything except how I looked in the mirror.  I've learned a ton in the process of overdoing the backloads and I've definitely gotten some long overdue cravings out of my system.  This week I've been trying to keep the backloads closer to 3-4 hours, rather than 6 hours like last week.  I've also started to try and keep them cleaner.  While I'm annoyed at how soft I look today, I don't think I'd have approached my first week of backloads any differently even if I'd known better.  So at this point, I'm thinking I'd like to do another prep phase, maybe just 5-7 days, so I can get back to the leanness I had a week and a half ago.  If that's not long enough I thought maybe another 5-7 days, basically CNS I guess.  Once I've gotten that tightness back, I'll resume backloading, probably DB, using what I've learned so far to get some cleaner backloads.  Before I do though, I'd just like some feedback from anyone willing to offer it.  Do you think I'm just spinning my wheels doing another prep?  Will it do any good?  I've gotten the hang of the ULC days and I'm going to start keeping track of my macros, as well as starting a log on this forum.  The thing is, after the fluctuations in my weight over the past 2 weeks, how will I be able to get a clear idea of how many carbs I should aim for based on the tables in the book? Thanks 😮

Welcome dude,I've been doing CBL for a while now and I'd suggest redoing the prep phase for about 7nights at least if you really think you screwed things up. It is possible to do CBL without the prep phase but it just takes a little longer for your body to adjust to ULC days, like using ketones for fuel etc.If its important to you to stay lean, do CNS until you get there then go straight to CBL and backload on training nights only. My understanding is that prep phases are needed for those who have f***** up bad! Or never done ULC ever (although it's not necessary) and to really get your body primed for the diet. From what you say it wouldn't hurt to do 1 ULC week and get straight back in it
