Lasse ElsbakParticipantI know a lot of people here on the forum do that, as well as many bulletproof followers. It's not bad, Just don't go overboard if you want it to be an AM accelerator. 🙂

I do not understand. Is there a downside to using butter as a source of fat? I seem to recall Kiefer said there was problem if you were getting the majority of your fat from plant sources. But I did not know if there was a down side to using butter as a primary or secondary source.

Richard SchmittModeratorButter is not a plant source, and it is one of the main go-to sources for fat. I specifically asked him this on a podcast that got aired and answered.

Damon AmatoParticipantI was being facetious. No downside.

Well, just be aware that butter will not be available as an energy source for a couple of hours after ingestion. So you will not get the hum of energy that you get with MCT or Coconut oil if you use it alone. The reason Asprey combines it with MCT oil is so that MCTs will give you the first hum of energy and butter will carry on after the energy from MCTs dissipate (he claims his formula lasts 8 hours). Grass fed butter has much better ratios than regular.

Damon AmatoParticipantSolid points. I was just saying that there are no downsides to using a lot as opposed to a little.

jcgomezMemberTex–ThanksConrad--Thanks, too. Unfortunately, MCT and Coconut Oil and my body are like oil and vinegar. They do not mix well. I have big bottle of NOW MCT just sitting in my kitchen. I will look for some grass fed butter. Good idea.Pete--I cannot remember where I saw or heard this, but I believe it was in a post referring to a recent Kiefer podcast. As always, maybe I misunderstood or misheard.
