Smells GoodmanKeymasterI just finished reading the book for the second time, and it *kind of* answered one of my questions, but not really. He mentions ALA in one the chapters (I don't have the book in front of me so I can't quote qirectly), but doesn't say if it's good or bad to supp. I was looking at supplementing with ALA anyway, so I'm wondering before I place my order if ALA is a good supp to take with this diet?

CBachelor17MemberI would say no. Your getting ALA from the meats your eating, supplement grade ALA isn't going to be properly absorbed or used by the body. So basically you'll be passing your money through your body and literally flushing it down the toilet. Save your money for your PWO Supps like Iso Whey, Leucine, or for some Coconut oil.

GnomerParticipanti have used ALA on and off your years in its various forms from regular racemix to r-ala to na-rala.. honestly though never really noticed anything anytime I have used it.. currently have the na-rala but will be last time I purchase it..i'm also assuming you are taking alpha lipoic acid and not Alpha-linolenic acid if so never supplemented with Alpha-linolenic acid

Big_RParticipantIt really depends on why you are using it and what your trying to accomplishALA has good antioxidant properties at about 1,000mg/day PWO. Apparently it can't elevate phosphocreatine levels when paired with creatine also

yea i have read that.. 1g a day depends on what kind you are talking... but still never noticed anything worth continually spending money on it

yeah i was referring to alpha lipoic acid. I've supp'd with CLA (conjugated linoleic acid) in the past, and at 5g/day didn't really notice that much of difference in pure fat loss vs just CBL so that's why I was curious if ALA was any different.

exactly. to me it always comes down to trial an error; doesn't matter if everyone else says it works. If you take the supplement and see no differences or any indications/ improvements it would be pointless to have on your supplement shelf ;D

yea i'm big on experimenting with various supplements but honestly very few over the years have i found to be really worth paying money for monthly

+1 Research on supplementing ALA breaks down to IF it works, you have to buy the expensive stuff thats not lab made broke down BS. Which IMO isnt worth the the money to figure out if it works for you let alone spend the $ for the little changes it will make if it does.
