jlbryan38KeymasterHey I have a quick question about alcohol. I have 2 big parties to go to this weekend, and one night is my carb nite..so I assume I can maybe have a glass or 2 of wine…though I know it isn't advised…but what about the other night? I know I will have to have alcohol, because I am a social animal! LOL. Is wine the best thing to have? IS this going to throw my ULC nights off in a huge way? Will I have to redo the orientation phase if I drink 2 nights in a row? I am not talking about getting shitfaced ;D…just a couple drinks?

Craig jonesParticipantKiefers opinion on it was, drink alcohol with no carbs. Like vodka diet coke. Side effects are, you won't burn any fat while the alcohol is in your system. Alcohol being burned first over anything else.As for drinking on your carbnite. I wouldn't!It's in one of the q and a podcasts.Craig

Stick to wine, and limit it.I am not concerned about the carbs, really (though they DO matter)... I am concerned about the hormonal effects. Alcohol consumption throws testosterone, estrogen and cortisol off. It also blunts protein synthesis for up to 4 hours post-consumption.People often argue the health benefits, but you can get the same from a multi-vitamin and resveratrol (both of which I take).I am not trying to rain on your parade. Enjoy yourself, but if you must drink (or enjoy a drink), limit.Cory

jlbryan38GuestThanks for the response! Yes, I think I will just try to stick with one glass of wine each night. I really dont like wine that much…so it will be easy for me to “nurse” one. I do have to stay away from the beer or vodka…because those I DO like! LOL.

I went to a work party once (silently mandatory), everyone was sloshed (even my boss). I sipped a glass of water. One of the drunkards asked me what I was drinking, I said "vodka". What was he going to do, steal my glass and check? LOL.When in Rome, sometimes you only need to appear as though you're doing what the Romans are. I don't want to have to explain my dietary guidelines, and I also don't want to appear "holier than thou".Cory
