Trevor G FullbrightModeratorI can say have often gone out and got completely hammered and as long as I control my drunk eating, I don't feel it has hurt my progress at all.

Walter NorwoodParticipantDamn – best news I've had in a long time. I've been completely avoiding the stuff…I'm not saying I plan to go out drinking regularly, but at least I know I can have a drink or two socially and not feel guilty or like I'm defeating myself! Thanks guys.

Yes! Its having the control while drinking, as with most ppl being diet consciousness goes out the window with intoxication.. Just avoid the drunk cravings, and that hungover need for a greasy carb laden breakfast sammich;)

Walter NorwoodParticipantThis just made my day. I don't plan on drinking heavily (a few drinks) but knowing that I can do so without killing my diet makes me extremely happy. It takes away having to explain why you're not drinking to the people you typically drink with!

Alcohol doesn't make you fat, it's all the garbage and sugar people consume when they are drunk. However, I never got the greasy hangover food, whenever I am hungover, I can't eat ANYTHING. Especially not something heavy.

Walter NorwoodParticipantMan, I can be a human garbage disposal, especially when I'm drunk. I don't know why but when I'm hungover, a giant sub from Jersey Mike's calls out to me.I'm commited to CNS but just am trying to make this liveable w/ the wife when it needs to be. It's bad enough that I cook all of the meals...so to turn around and then say "Nah...I'm not going to have a drink with you and our friends..." makes my life a little bit tough.

I love that as a society we have to justify why we are choosing to NOT put what is, essentially, a poison into our bodies. Ha..That being said, for your drinks, I highly recommend a NorCal Margarita. They're quite delicious and refreshing.. Tequila, soda water, and lime juice. (Make sure you specify to the bartender you want lime juice, not just a lime wedge, otherwise it'll taste like asshole.)Since I mentioned the NorCal Margarita, I might as well use a Robb-Wolf-ism also.. The best rule of thumb as far as alcohol goes: drink enough to optimize your sex life, without sacrificing your health.

I don't understand this mentality. So many people have this. Why don't you just go out and not drink? I do it all the time.

cloudybrainParticipantJust make sure you are FULL before drinking.Since the time of this post, I actually stopped drinking about 2 months ago. Haha, go figure. However, that's just a personal choice for reasons not associated with the diet. I just got in the habit of drinking club sodas, unsweetened ice teas, decafe/regular coffees, and I order them with confidence. 😀Drinking on a ULC are okay, but just be careful about it. I wouldn't want to keep it a daily habit because it can decrease the affects of your insulin levels. When you drink your insulin will raise, your blood sugar will drop, which is a reason why you'd get hungry. I drank sometimes on ULC after a workout, and after I ate something. Keifer says it stops your body from breaking down your muscles any further.I personally would rather on a carb nite, only because you can aid in increasing your insulin, and don't run the same kind of risks on ULC after a few drinks.I also drink a glass of water before I drink anything too. It slows down my pace of drinking and I don't have to drink too much.

CBachelor17MemberAlcohol (drinks without added carbs) actually has an over insulin reducing effect. The initial response is a slight increase, followed by the complete opposite.

I have to be like, "oh i'm just on a health kick right now" or come up with something so people just leave me the fuck alone because apparently saying, "thank you, but I don't drink" just isn't good enough. I have a 2 y/o, so that's a very good excuse, "nope, I don't drink when I'm around my son" then I look like father of the year...People have problems.

Anssi SoderenaMemberI was still wondering about beer. I checked the nutritional values of one Finnish beer in the local market. It had: 40 kcal, 0g fat, 2,6g carbs of which sugar 0g, <0,5g protein, 0g salt per 100 ml. Ingredients: water, barley malt, barley, sugar, hop. Do you think I could drink half of this tonight in the sauna? 😉I was thinking drinking about 2-3 dl which holds 5,2-7,8g of carbs. Yes, I know liquor would be better but beer tastes better. 🙂
