KapriceMemberMost of the success stories I've seen are skinny guys getting ripped and jacked. Or of guys already muscular getting lean while still building muscle.I know Keifer says guys with > 20% BF should look to Carb Nite, but I'm wondering if anyone has been able to use CBL for massive fat loss?I'm 5'10", 260 pounds. 50 year old. It's been a long time since I've worked hard in the gym for more than a few weeks. I usually get some decent muscle growth but tend to stop after 4 to 8 weeks so I've never gotten ripped or jacked.I love the CBL concept. I hate breakfast, anyway. And, I've hated long term low carb plans I've tried.I'm I just dreaming? Or, have I got a good chance of losing my excess fat on CBL?PS: To help with fat loss I'm keeping my calories below 2600. My first priority is getting 160g protein. Then, I try to get as many carbs at night as I can without going above the 2600 calories.

Damon AmatoParticipant1) stop counting calories 2) stop counting protein3) fat loss can happen on CBL but will be slower than CNS, so it's up to you what you want to try.

KapriceMemberAre you saying that by backloading carbs, I don't need the traditional levels of protein for muscle gain?If that's the case, why does Keifer include the macro charts in Appendix IX?

Trevor G FullbrightModeratorIt's more important to not stress over it.I think that's a good protein level for you to aim for, but don't count calories, backloading seem to work better with more carbs for most people. Most people will do best to just eat, and maybe loosely track.

A guy your size will end up eating 160 g of protein anyway if you do the diet properly.

KapriceMemberMy first two days when I didn't focus on protein, I only got about 50 or 60 grams in. Then, every day after I've had to push myself to get more. So, I'd add a couple of eggs in the Under Eating segment. Then I added a tbs of protein powder to my salad (in addition to 3 -4 oz of chicken). So, I don't yet trust myself to get enough protein in without paying attention to it for at least a while. I've ordered, and awaiting shipment, supplies for the pre and post WO shakes. I think that will help a lot.

You should be eating a 1:1 ratio of protein to fat by grams. You should be getting most of your calories from fatty cuts of meat. What did you eat all day?

KapriceMemberI don't recall from then. But, since then, I've been going for eggs, bacon, round eye beef, cottage cheese, roast beef deli slices (not packaged).

Brandon D ChristParticipantthe bacon and eggs are good, I would ditch the cottage cheese and use hard cheeses (higher in fat, lower in carbs). Is the round eye similar to the rib-eye? If so that would be good. Make sure eat something fatty with the roast beef or sautee it in butter or something.

zewskiMemberTake a look at the pro:fat ratio in the back of CNSPeople often dismiss the actual book since it's somewhat outdated, but that things pretty good and easy to learn/follow.
