Cory McCarthyMemberI dont think BCAAs make a huge difference when your diets in check, I just like them because I feel like they help me push a little harder, help with replenishing some lost minerals and a little reassurance of no muscle loss is nice.
BCAAs don't have minerals in them or provide energy 😮They prevent tissue breakdown during exercise and promote recovery after exercise, but also prevent fatloss.
This, and help put you in a state of positive nitrogen balance.Cory

Brandon D ChristParticipantDo BCAAs not provide energy? They are amino acids, which can be used to create glucose or ketones in the body.

Actually, they can. The proteins can be burned as fuel to provide energy. However, fairy was right about them not being / restoring minerals.Cory

FairyGuestWell, technically the liver could change the amino acids into glucose, but it's a very inefficient process. I doubt taking 5-20g of BCAAs would help raise blood sugar levels… Especially considering the insulin release it could prompt.

FairyGuestYeah, I use a generic version. I don't think they include minerals/electrolytes. But it is a cool idea.

This is another good reason that I take Xtend during the workout. Its got some electrolytes but no carbs like most other formulas that have them.

Good product, naturally flavored too. Decent mixability. 8:1:1 ratio, in favor of Leucine. Added Glutamine.I definitely prefer it. I used to use generic.Cory
