gramma0511KeymasterAfter successfully keeping my carbs under 30 grams or less for 5 days I ate about 50 in one sitting. It's a direct result of poor planning. I went to dinner with my father and his elderly friends and mistakenly assumed the restaurant would have a salad. Nope. Just battered food all the way (this is what happens when you give good ole Dad the choice of eateries ;D). If I didn't eat or I took the breading off, these elderly men on a fixed income would have been extremely offended. Anyway… I ate. So how do I get myself back on track? Do I restart the 10 days, finish the other 5, do extra HIIT, what? Of the previous 5 days, I strength trained 4 days (it was a deload week) and did HIIT 4 days. I will try to continue this although my energy levels are super low.

CMetlerGuestI would say start over, only because the purpose of that prep phase is to completely clean you out… any other time I would say just get back into to it asap. It's frustrating, but like you said, you have to plan those 1st 9 days can be rough!

+1However, if you are extremely active, you might get away with ~7 days of prep, not the full 10.Cory

Douglas StewartMemberAre you doing Strength Accumulation or Density Bulking? With SA, yes keep going with the prep phase although I can't see how 20g over your allowance will destroy your results. However others may know better than me. With DB I would say don't reset the count as the prep phase is optional according to the book.

+1Both CN and CBL need one thing at the start. The 10 day prep phase! Get yourself planned out a bit better and give it another shot.

RagEGuestYou are doing this for you, not for your dads friends. You are gonna have to get used to comments and looks, both on CNS and CBL. Do the full 10 days. If anything, it gives you some training in self control and planning.

gramma0511Guestthank you for all the help! I appreciate it! However, I think I wasn't clear- the comments do not bother me (anytime you do something different or hard, people resent you)…offending someone I hold dear does bother me greatly. Especially since I feel they are more important than my diet. And it would have offended them- not in the normal way but in a deep down, actual hurt way. These elderly men offered me a gift-one they could hardly afford. It was supposed to be a celebration with my father because I was in town and visiting. It wasn't their fault I'm not eating carbs. 🙂 Normally, I can just wait oreat salad. I didn't even realize there were restaurants that only serve breaded and fried stuff (only in rural Arkansas). 🙂 Next time I will be better prepared. Anyway.. thanks again for all the advice. I have restarted my prep phase. It's only 10 days, not forever.:) Wish me luck!

P.J.ParticipantIt's only 10 days, not forever. 🙂 Wish me luck!+1Keep up the positive attitude 🙂 Although those 10 days can be challenging at times, I find the prep phase to be an extremely beneficial experience that everybody should go through. By that 10th night, I not only felt great physically but was gratified about what I had accomplished.
