I think you'd be better off starting without backloading on off days, and after a couple of weeks if you really feel like you need it you can start adding them in.

skinnykid13, once your body starts getting more efficient at using fat as fuel, you don't need any carbs to have a great workout, only for recovery/growth. Hell, I have great workouts even when I'm able to light my sweat on fire from not eating carbs for several days while doing two a days, but at first it sucked. Use more stimulants if you are dragging too much, eating ulc makes them even more efficient 😉

That sounds like solid advice. I think my body has adapted to ULC because I did a prep phase that ended last Wednesday. I've been eating carbs every night since then, so I hope that doesn't throw me off too much, but I'll continue with my current diet from my original post in order to start SA (replace pwo carbs with meat/veggies for off days). Thanks for all the help from everyone! It seems like I've gotten all my questions answered in just one day.  ;D

gritty, what are your current weights for your lifts? And, are you doing power cleans or substituting barbell rows instead? I created a log under the CNS forum since I don't have the CBL book so I don't have access to that section. Link is here: http://dangerouslyhardcore.com/forum/index.php?topic=2605.0

If you just started liftingin and are doing SS, which it looks like you are, take out all the extra movements and stick to the big 3 plus maybe pull-ups.

gritty, I'm 5'8″ and I haven't gotten any creatine yet but I need to soon.zewski, I did SS last summer for a good 8 weeks or so and I didn't bother with extra stuff then. I just do it now based on how I feel at the end of my workout. If it was particularly exhausting, I skip the dips/chins, but if I'm feeling good, I'll do them. My recovery capacity is fine right now and I'm in my 4th week or so after a reset last week to start doing a low-bar squat instead of high-bar.

You definitely have to split up your training more as things get heavier. I would rather go back to the gym another time just to do accessory work, because I'm usually wiped out after doing 2-3 compound lifts. Squats and dead-lifts are especially horrible nowadays, whereas I can keep training for a while after bench pressing.

I figure I'd just continue with the linear progression on SS and I'll start a more focused split routine after 2-3 stalls/resets. I feel SS gives a fairly good growth signal to the body especially from squatting heavy 3x per week. I just don't want to stop until I hit at least a 2x BW deadlift and squat.
