JdianaKeymasterI'm starting carb back loading. I train Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday., during the week my training is split, noon(lunch break) is the main movement and the I do my assesorries at 6:30or7:00. My question is when should I back load the carbs. Should I BL mon, wed, Friday, night after training or BL the nights before training. I just purchased the book but when training at noon he has the least amount of info on it. Thanks

Richard SchmittModeratorJust move everything in the evening. Since you have time to do accessories in the evenings why not just use that time for the heavy lifting instead. It'll be way better for Backloading.

P.J.ParticipantI've always preferred to eat my carbs at night regardless of what time I train(especially on the night before an AM lifting session). I know some people feel it's more important to “backload” based on post-training time rather than the time of day, but in my opinion the whole point of CBL is to eat your carbs at night when your fat cells are least sensitive to insulin. That's why it's called “backloading” in the first place, and why eating all your carbs at night technically still qualifies as CBL even when you don't train at all(Density Bulking).

Yeah exactly. Then you get BOTH the fat cell resistance AND muscle cell sensitivity at the same time, and that's when the true magic happens 😀

JdianaGuestwhenever i decide to bl its going to be at night. just wondering if it should be after my assessories monday wednesday friday or the night be noon training, sunday tuesday thursday. thats what i used to do was train at night but now i only have 30mins(we just got a new adition to the family) and also i dont have any spotters so i cant go heavy as i would like. (dont have a cage). i train with a group of people at lunch time so its a better atmosphere to train. thanks again.

P.J.ParticipantAhh I see. I think if you're more concerned about keeping fat gain to a bare minimum you should backload after your accessory work since you would be in a pretty glycogen-depleted state. If building strength and muscle is a bigger priority, you should probably backload the night before your noon training sessions in order to fill up your glycogen stores before working out. I'm not 100% sure about this though.

Gl;itch.eMemberPersonally I would backload like normal in the evenings after the accessory work. They are more likely to be whats draining your glycogen reserves anyway. Strength work isnt really going to use that much glycogen that youll need to backload the night before. Unless you are on the elite end of the scale perhaps. Youll probably get some good fat loss with that training split too.
