TrashboatParticipantAfter doing some research it seems that Baking Soda is able to increase ketone production and fat oxidation to a small degree. It is quite cheap so I am curious to know if anyone on here has implemented it into their regime. Some studies:http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1975988http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2556622http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11932569http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17585026Has kiefer ever delved into the topic? What is his take? It also appears to be able to increase insulin sensitivity.

Brandon D ChristParticipantBaking soda is very basic. I would be concerned that it would lower your stomach acidity, which can lead to digestive issues.

I've personal experience with this. Brutal stomach cramps when I tried to adjust to keegan water(aklylonized water), and taking baking soda as a suppliment. Caveat Emptor.

Melvin McLainParticipantUse it with caution in any case. "Some athletes and coaches believe that drinking baking soda prior to competition helps a person perform for longer periods of time. This is extremely dangerous, and in addition to side effects, it actually makes the athletes unable to perform."http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/002749.htmGoogle results for "baking soda" "dangerous"

Rob HaasGuestBen Pulkowski swears by lemon juice in water to reduce blood PH (or maybe it's increase, I don't recall) Anyway, this is what I do. A little lemon juice in water with my morning greens.

I've been doing this for a few months as well, it was a life saver before my last show when my body just wanted to fall apart. I have 32 oz upon waking and 32 oz post workout of my "alkaline lemonade"-32 oz water-one whole lemon quartered and squeezed-2 packets Splenda-3 pinches Pink Himalayan Sea Salt Helps with hunger pangs too.
