janice garriganMemberHi allAnother question from this newbie-believer!tonight is my first carb night and I'm excited right now for it, but have a feeling I MIGHT balk at all the calories and carbs when I start to get to them. I am confident I can do it but have fear of the fear. Ha. I have noticed quite a benefit in many areas of my body, both externally and internally (body comp, appetite, many more) with this week of ulc BUT I'm wondering if any of you, especially women (?) kinda balk at the immense insulin spike you need to create.Im kinda putting the cart before the horse but I can just SEE me doing that! then I'll wreck the carb night and I don't wanna do that. Experience with this? also, are the calories also supposed to be way up compared to ucl days? Or are they supposed to be essentially the same since you're cutting fat and protein, by default, when you're adding carbs. My first meal will be low fat and so there ya have a calorie balancing rather than just stacking a million calories on top. I will not try to moderate or count and just enjoy my carb night (believe me I'm EXCITED) but wondering about the calorie load? Same, more? Not less, I knowthank you

Richard SchmittModeratorOn a CN, it is really difficult to mess up. The main concern you would need to be aware of is during the ULC week. Just go at the basics and enjoy your first one.

Simple answer: Don't count. Just eat. And then eat some more. And some more. Etc until your 6-8 hour window is done. Then get some shut-eye 😉Longer answer: If you do what I just said, your CN calories will generally be higher, which will make up some of the extreme deficit from the rest of the week. This is how it's supposed to work. But don't think/worry about it. ESPECIALLY not for your first/first couple CN's. Just enjoy yourself, knowing that eating your favorite foods is helping you lose fat.
