I ate white rice with mince meat last night thinking it was high GI, but then I looked up basmati white rice for its GI and now I'm not so sure.Is basmati white rice appropriate for carb backloading?

I'm sorry, but this is pointless minutea. It's fine, don't worry that much about it.

Why is it pointless Trevor?I thought you wanted carbs that offer the biggest insulin response.  White sushi rice has a GI index of over 100.  Basmati rice is much lower.  I thought that was a very important point, no?Thanks

It still has a pretty good GI response. Especially if you cook it so that it is softer/more moist.White rice variants are still pretty processed in the end.
