millerapMemberWhile trying not to be too openly graphic. I am wondering if anyone else has had the opposite of what I read in CN regarding constipation. I'm very new to CN (on day 7 right now), but have had this “problem” since day two. I am not supplementing with a fiber supplement, but I had always been under the impression that fiber helped with constipation, not the opposite problem, like I am having. Any thoughts, suggestions, or similar experiences with this problem?

IronDudeMemberYep. Been there. ” tablespoons of psyllium and sometimes a tablespoon of grinded flax seeds can help a great deal. Also eat a lot of spinach.

CBachelor17MemberIts pretty normal and there are several threads on this, your body isnt use to fat/protein being the main ingredient its digesting. Just give it time. And (+1) on eating spinach. Watch out eating “lots” of it as it does have a useable carb content. I eat 1.5-2 cups brocolli with my 2 biggest meals of the day. All others are usually 0 carb with some trace for meat or maybe 1 or 2 from a chunk of cucumber (to help with fulness).

millerapMemberAwesome. It sure isn't fun, but at least I'm not the only one. I'll be picking up a fiber supplement tomorrow for sure. Any recommendations? I'm sure there are threads on it, but I'm still on my phone at work at this point.

CBachelor17MemberI never needed a fiber supplement. Eat a few cups of broccoli a day. It will keep you full and give you fiber. On your carb nite eat a quest bar. and some digestive enzymes or pro biotic.

sounds like OP is talking about diarrhea not constipation.. i would not suggest any sort of fiber supplement in either case but probiotics and digestive enzymes can be very helpfull in both situations

TCBParticipant+1 to the probably not needing a fiber supplement. Eat some spinach and broccoli, and take a digestive enzyme with all meals involving fat and protein. (NOW Foods Super Enzyme is a good one).Theoretically, however, getting more insoluble fiber COULD help with diarrhea a bit, but it could also just be flushed right through. But I'd just focus on the fibrous veggies mentioned above. And make sure you get enough sodium.

CBachelor17MemberIndeed, I suggested taking some digestive enzymes on the day of CN, and just implementing some broccoli into ULC meals. I had the same problem for a while when i started. Thats what ended up helping me. Of course I went from going to being backed up, but broccoli on ULC days, and pro biotic supplements on CN regulated me.

i'd advise against it.. and if they were inclined to use fiber for some reason I wouldn't use psyllium
