Brandon D ChristParticipantI always heard about flush from beta-alanine. It is strange I took up to six grams before and didn't feel anything.

Cory McCarthyMemberIs it true you have to stop taking BA for two weeks at a time?
I've never cycled off. Never lost effect either.Cory

Cory McCarthyMemberGood shit, and I sleep like a baby on it... so, it is well-worth the flavor. Smells like a fish market combined with tea leaves.Tastes like burnt ear wax.Just stir it well, and dump it back. 🙂Cory
Are you just taking 1 1600mg dose before bed?
Yes. I doubled the rec. dose, and I take 1600mg before bed w/ my ZMAs, GABA, Cissus and Selenium.Cory

FairyGuestThanks Cory.Just want to add I'm loving 5-HTP for sleep. It seems to have made my sleep VERY deep. And I normally sleep pretty deeply. Wax ear plugs also help 🙂

Beta-Alanine acutally builds up over 4-6 weeks, should be much more efficient, just like creatine which takes a while until your levels are up.

I personally always cycle creatine because it appears to "stop working" at some point and my performance doesn't decrease when I cycle off. When I cycle back on I get a little boost. I figured it is more cost effective to cycle it, but who knows this could just be that I lose steam when I get to the end of a training cycle and feel better after doing less intense stuff for a while when I start another intense training cycle.

Could be relative, too. If it works for you, I'd say cycle. I see no difference, and b/c I don't eat red meat, I don't get a lot of Creatine elsewhere in my diet (so I keep supping).Ronnie Coleman used to cycle Creatine (among other things - LOL), but I read that other bb'ers say they never cycle off (I think Evan Centopani said this once). The research really doesn't point to either method being wrong.Cory

TokyoLifterMemberNo need to cycle off, ever.

You don't get any noticable creatine form eating red meat, most of it gets destroyed when cooking the meat.

Low creatine levels are a problem in vegetarians that don't eat enough protein and vegans. Your body can synthesize creatine from a couple different amino acids.

Well, I get plenty of protein... but, I also supp with 15g of Creatine on any given day. I have no issues with building or maintaining muscle.Everything I've built has been on a Lacto-Ovo diet.Creatine is synthesized from arginine, glycine and methionine.Cory

Yea, but even if you didn't supplement with creatine you would still have creatine levels comparable to a meat eater.
