SpatzModeratorI'm not even going to worry about the holidays. I'm going to eat, enjoy, spend time with family and not stress over what I eat. Happiness outweighs the fat I'm going to gain from the few days I spend enjoying the relatives I haven't seen all year. π After the family day/weekend I'll do the 10 day prep, and then keep going with whatever program I'm doing at the time. Next holiday comes up I'll just repeat. I think everyone should be able to have cheat days on holidays and not stress over it.

FredrikanitaParticipantI'm redoing the prep phase starting either tomorrow or Mon. You don't need to workout on carb night. So, if you want to have a week or so off, do it. I workout just for the fact that I really enjoy it and may be slightly addicted to it (have had a headcold all week but still worked out 4 days this week), so I'll keep to my training through the prep phase too. But its up to you and what you want to do. πOMG, talking about holidays. I just clicked that with my dad and family coming to stay for a month in Dec, that might be a full on carb filled month. :S Might have to switch to CBLing for that. π

wpMemberIt's really good knowing I don't need to feel guilty about it. It's a terrible feeling and I just need to overcome it. Even not traning for a week makes me feel guilty. I think I need to stop stressing about it, and get back on the wagon next week.

wpMemberI do admit, when i just started CN, i wasnt stressful at all. But gradually i became more and more focused on what i eat everyday and cobstantly going on the scale to check on my progress. I know i have to stop this becos CNS is meant to be an enjoyable lifestyle that anyone canΒ adapt to and worrying abt everything i eat would just put me back into another failing diet. For the sake of it, i know i need to restart it all.

CBachelor17MemberYea really take a minute to just relax. Eat stupid simple of its making you stress, or eat fancy and create fun meals if the simple ones are stressful/boring

wpMembermake sense!!i'm not very innovative when it comes to cooking, but i will have to try. I'm still gonna stick with eggs bacon and beef, but try make it more fun. salmon is good too right? because i LOVE sashimi...

CBachelor17MemberScramble 6 or so egg whites with some red onion, toss in some cooked beef and/or bacon, then toss the pan in a bowl of steamed broccoli. Had it myself, and its delicious!

wpMembersounds yummm!! Is egg white better than whole eggs? I love broccoli but I always thought it's high in carbs compared to other veggies. But again….I doubt I can go over 30g carbs with greens.

CBachelor17MemberIts not that they are “better”. But removing the yolk takes 53 calories and 5g of fat away from the egg. So you can get your fats from a variety of meats, etc. (More Bacon, Coconut Oil, Butter, Etc.) I do eat the yolks as well. But more than often I take just the whites. One of my favorite meals is a 10 egg white omelet topped with 6 pieces of bacon, avocado, and broccoli. Thats a cozy, baseball game watching dinner right there! π haha

OHHH i love avocado too but again scared of its carb contents. I guess half an avocado won't hurt. So when eggs do spike insulin, without the yolks it won't? Because you mentioned you would have 10 whites. Just out of curiosity, what would you do with your yolks then?

CBachelor17MemberGood question! Yea the yolks is what we are concerned about here. Thats where most of the Amino Profile is stored. And thats what is going to cause an insulin spike. I think due to the yolk having a large Leucine content is what has been mentioned by Keifer. Just make sure when eating them you have a good dose of fats, cook them in butter, have some Coconut Oil with or on them, fry them with bacon, etc.

wpMemberThanks for the info!!!. I personally prefer just egg whites anyway..i will use fresh eggs, but there are liquid egg whites in carton. I guess those arent as good right? It just seems cheaper to use those.

Trevor G FullbrightModeratorYou are actually missing out on tons of nutritional value by ditching the yolks. I think most people should have at least 3 a day.I'd toss the whites before I would the yolks.

X2Mon-Fri I eat 12 whole eggs for dinner and I don't worry about a spike. If I didn't eat whole eggs I'd just buy the whites in a carton because I hate wasting food.
