tzanghiParticipantOk so i will grab some regular isolate for my am shakes, do you recommend the hydrolyzed for pwo or should i just shit can the hydrolyzed and stay with isolate?
Hydrolyzed protein is nice PWO, but it is really only a small benefit. If you have to pick between one or the other, you definately want isolate as it is much more versatile.
Would you say its a waste of money to buy both on a regular basis?I bought both a few months ago when I switched to CBL and I am nearly out of Hydro. Would it make much of a difference if I stick with Isolate?
I can't really say it's a waste of money because I buy it. Let me put it this way, if you are already eating high quality foods (grass fed beef, grass fed butter ect.) and you are training at good gym that has everything you need, then you can buy the whey hydrolysate. If not, then take care of the other two first.
Strictly on grass fed beef, no nitrate/hormone bacon, omega 3 eggs, grass fed butter, and vegetables during the ULC portion of the week. I train at a really good indepent gym where I can do what I want in terms of lifting.I been mixing hydro and isolate PWO with the additional recommended recovery supplements
Off-topic, but Nitrates are fine, and Omega-3 enhanced eggs are a waste because the additional omega-3s are EPA. Not to pick on you, but you may be able to save a couple bucks this way.

Do you mean ALA? There actually is a slight increase in DHA with the omega 3 enriched eggs and they are lower in omega 6.

Whoopsies, yes I meant ALA. The omega-3 enriched eggs I've seen have only been increased ALA from feeding the chickens with flax seed. I guess there are more than one type.

CBachelor17MemberIsn't Isolate recommended PWO for those who train AM for the carb free insulin spike? That and Leucine.

CBachelor17MemberThat's what I thought, just curious because it seems like it's being argued that hydro was the bigger spike. And I just stocked up on isopure because gnc had it dirt cheap and I had a 50% with student ID coupon! Haha

GonnaBeGiantMemberYou got a good deal at Gnc?!?! I'm calling bull shit

No the chickens convert some of the ALA into DHA and a small amount of EPA.

Interesting, I didn't know that.
Humans can do that as well. That is why EPA and DHA are not truly essential. Though, the body sucks at it, it can convert ALA to DHA and EPA. The inverse is not true, so ALA is an essential fatty acid. However, the body is really good at converting EPA to DHA and vice versa.
July 20, 2013 at 11:53 pm #190948
tzanghiParticipantYea, I knew of those effects in humans(less EPA to DHA and vice versa conversion), but I didn't think the same occurred in chickens at any significant rate, but I never really looked into it.

I'm not really sure it's that significant. However, the omega 3 eggs I buy have 75 mg of DHA and 5 mg of EPA, so it has some. So if you have four eggs it's almost like taking a fish oil cap.
