Hello you lovely lovely people,I had my Carb Nite last night (6 days after last CN) - got into the gym this morning to complete my first of two HIIT sessions and felt a bit lethargic, probably because of having to drag around all the extra weight and a full belly from the night before. Not too concerned about that but have noticed an undeniable rise in alertness and brainpower today - I won't bore you with the details but am reading through a legal document at work and feel much more 'on it' than I have done for the past 3 days. I understand ULC diets can reduce brain alertness and general processing of data. I didn't think it would be a big deal but the difference is quite noticeable. Aside from caffeine is there anything I can do to help me keep on top of my game whilst doing this diet? I work in a solution led sales environment and the ability to take in complex technical information and make decisions quickly is critical to my job.Thank you!

When you're running on ketones only, brain function is at 90%But I think when you're running on carbs only it's also suboptimal. So I think the fact that your brain is now ketone adapted and that you had glucose present helped you to max out at 100%. Look at BulletproofExec.com for more info on optimising diet for brain function

Try cutting it down to one HIIT session.  You are probably getting enough glucose for your brain (from odd chain fatty acids and trace carbohydrates) so I don't think that is the issue.  I would check out the Bulletproof Executive stuff anyway though because there is a lot of good info on that website. You may want to raise your fat consumption as well if it is less than .5 g/lb

I cannot recommend bullet proof coffee enough for enhancing my cognitive ability..  I cook EVERYTHING in MCT oil and add 1 TBSP of grassfed butter to all my meals.  My brain is constantly buzzing from this (and fat loss is in full swing)Here is the link:http://www.bulletproofexec.com/how-to-make-your-coffee-bulletproof-and-your-morning-too/I usually put 1 TBSP of MCT oil and 1 TBSP of kerrygold butter in my coffee.  You would think it would be gross but the coffee comes out creamy and awesome, plus you get the added benefits of the grass fed fats from it too.

From what I can tell the types of fats with the bulletproof food are more specific and limited.  If you look on his site he has a chart listing foods in the green (which are good), and foods in the read (which are best to be avoided).  He goes into the whole mycotoxin thing which is REALLY specific but there is really good info on his site like ibob said.I hate to say it, but eliminating the shitty store bought bacon and non grass fed butter has really made a difference in how I feel and overall energy. Those two right there are enough for me to keep eating those foods but I noticed an increase in fat loss as well.  My go to fats, are MCT oil, grass fed butter, and coconut oil.  As far as meat goes, all I have been having is grass fed beef.  Hands down the best I have ever felt and looked.I will warn you that the more specific you get with the type of food, it gets pricey.  But how can you put a price on your overall sense and well being/health/ and general badassedness?

To save money you can hunting.  I have been eating wild venison for the past week, and while I love grass fed beef, wild venison is even better in my opinion.  To be honest though I am very skeptical of anything Asprey says about mycotoxins.  I think he grossly overstates the effects on the body and I think as long as you are eating fresh food this won't be a problem.

That's so cool Ibo 🙂I'm eating bulletproof (except on CN) and I also use the emWave2. I didn't even know how stressed I was until I used it and realised what relaxed felt like!I'm also using the PowerPlate nearly every day. Love it. I totally thought it was a silly fad until I read the research Dave Asprey points to. Anything else? Oh yeah, mega dosing on vitamin D. I've listened to all of his podcasts and there is just so much implementable info in them.

Do you sleep on an earthing mat Ibo?I have a mini earthing pad but don't notice any immediate benefit from using it so haven't been using it very much.

    Totally agree about the Mycotoxins.

Can you elaborate on this more?  How have you used it to help you?  I have been looking at picking one up.
