mrusonisKeymasterWho here drinks the bulletproof coffee? I just can't imagine putting butter in my coffee. My morning coffee usually consists of 1 tbsp of MCT oil & 1 tbsp of heavy whipping cream, all with a k-cup. I've started mixing a small cartoon of heavy whipping cream & 1 scoop of protein and using 1 tbsp of that in my coffee each morning. My coffee I have at around 6am & my first meal isn't until around noon.

Trevor G FullbrightModeratorI do. It's better then it sounds.

Sharon WParticipantI do to. It took me awhile to get “brave” enough to try it, but it really is great. And now I am adding a dash of salt as mentioned in another thread and its even better.

StevanParticipantI really like butter, it is sort of like the force but instead of a light side and dark side, it has a sweet side and a salty side.I tried it too but it left my coffee bitter. Heavy cream seems to take that away.

John LaPlaca JrMemberAnyone ever you Ghee in their coffee?

ieatbredMemberIsn't butter and heavy whipping cream essentially the same thing?

SpatzModeratorI just recently started doing the whole “butter in my coffee thing” and I must say… Its a bit oily! I put (2 tbs cream), 2 tbs coconut oil and 1 or 2 tbs butter in my coffee cup and its got like a good half inch of oil floating in my coffee cup!… So, now what I do in the mornings is mix only 1tbs coconut oil into my coffee (and the cream) and take a shot (1tbs) of coconut oil and down it with a few gulps of coffee. Then I take my Kerry Golds butter in a tablespoon and just sit, drinking my coffee and enjoying my butter in a spoon. This is not for everyone but goodness, that kerry golds butter is so smooth and soft, I love it. 🙂 -AND its not super oily in my cup!

Exactly. No idea why people get weirded out by butter in their coffee, but put cream in. If you churn the cream long enough, you'll have a type of butter. Same difference.

Just give it a quick pulse in a blender/bullet. It'll emulsify 🙂

systemfMemberAnyone ever you Ghee in their coffee?
Yes, everyday, it makes the coffee nutty, aromatic and delicious.

They are the same in that each is pure fat but they taste differently.

MscuilliMemberI was actually curious about this and was going to start a thread but saw this one so i'll ask it here…does the BPC break a fast or does it help extend it but still gives the body the fat it needs, and if so, is it something recommended? I do usually eat higher fat meats throughout the day (ham, bugers, bacon ETC) but I could cut out the eggs in the morning if consensus is that it would bring greater results, what do you guys think?

There is currently a 4 or 5 page thread going on this topic in one of the sub forums.

Completely individual. Try it. See what happens. Adjust.

The only perk to the grassfed butter over heavy cream that I am aware of is nutritionally. Assuming the butter is grass-fed, it is going to have a higher vitamin content, have a better omega ratio and higher CLA content. This is assuming your heavy cream is not from grassfed cows. If the butter isn't pasteurized, even better. I think the bullet-proof coffee guy may go into that but you can probably google for more information on it.

EStoneParticipantI've tried it and do like it every once in a while, but don't do it often. For me, it takes a bit too long to prepare, and I do find that either the butter or the coconut oil eventually separates from the cofffee leaving it a bit oily. If you need something to get you through a long while when you can't eat in the morning, it will keep you satified and give you energy. Personally I just do coffee with HWC most of the time. I usually have that upon waking and have breakfast a few hours later. If I am really busy in the morning and will not have time to eat breakfast, I will do the bulletproof coffee and it can get me through to breakfast. I'm honestly not sure how so many can skip breakfast on here. I can postpone it, but am starving by 9 or 10.

SaraParticipantI wish I could get into bulletproof coffee, but I can't. I don't even like HWC in my coffee because of the greasy mouthfeel. I take a tablespoon or so of coconut butter and wash it down with coffee and let my belly do the mixing (saves having to wash the blender, too). It still works to keep me full for a while.
