This is how I brew mine and I think its the best way to make good tasting/fresh coffee.

Uh.. Scope? What the heck is that contraption? I vaguely think I've heard of it..... but only once of twice and right now the name is slipping my mind. Look perdy cool...

Its a Hario pour over. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000P4D5HG

I originally bought the BP coffee beans straight from the guy, but I realized that any single-origin coffee grown at elevation will do.  The theory behind using quality coffee is that it does not contain micotoxins that (according to the BP guy) are found in the majority of commercial, mainstream coffees including Starbucks, DD etc.  So I've been trying different kinds from “Joe” on 21st St between 6th & 7th in NYC.  They carry great coffees that are BP-friendly, including a popular roaster Intelligentsia ( http://bit.ly/UTrZBe ).  I use Kerrygold unsalted butter from Trader Joe's, and I got the MCT oil from the BP guy.  But I also use a cheaper oil from Nature's Way ( http://amzn.to/StVB3V ) when I'm waiting on BP shipments, which always seem to be running behind.  I use 1/8 brick of the butter (about 3 tbsp), 2-3 tablespoons of the oil, and around 10 oz of the coffee.  You NEED to blend it.  The difference is so huge...first few times I just stirred it with a spoon, but I have a hand blender and it comes out like a frothy latte and (according to the BP guy) the blended version divides the fat droplets up into a more absorbable size for your system, but I felt that's probably an exaggeration...to me it just tastes better and has better texture that way.If you are doing BP fasting you are not actually fasting, as you are taking in calories, but the theory behind BP IF is that the fats keep you in ketosis and trigger satiety during the "fasting" period without affecting the results of the diet.  For me I just drink one cup for breakfast and I'm not hungry until lunchtime several hours later.  If you read the BP site, be sure to read through the articles and studies he references before you adhere to his theories 100%.  While the coffee has worked for me, you definitely don't need to buy his products to make it properly, and some of his "science" is questionable at best.

The above post is exactly right. Everyone needs to just mess around with it a little. My perfect BP coffee is 12oz Kcup with 4TB of Kerrygold unsalted butter, 2 TB of MCT oil and 1 TB of coconut oil. Then BLEND! We use a magic bullet at home and when I'm on the road I use this:http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0017XHSAE/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=cheapsoftware-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B0017XHSAEThe consistency is everything. If you simply pour the ingredients in it is a nasty combination of greasy weird colored droplets of gooey yuck. If you blend correctly it will emulsify into a beautiful golden color that looks like a latte with some yummy foam on top.I know everyone here is similar to me and a freak of "must know" so here is the quick and dirty of how and why.http://www.modernistcookingmadeeasy.com/info/modernist-techniques/more/emulsifying-techniqueCopied from the BP guy.

Instructions for Bulletproof Coffee2 cups (500ml) of hot coffee brewed with low toxin Bulletproof® Upgraded™ Coffee beans. This part really matters – the vast majority of coffee tastes good but has contaminants in it that sap your mental performance. (This problem is real, which is why I fixed it with a new process and standard for creating these coffee beans)1-2 Tbs of Upgraded MCT oil (15-30g or 15-30ml) to fuel your brain cells and burn fat (Start with 1 teaspoon and work your way up! This is strong fuel!)2 Tbs unsalted grass-fed butter like Kerrygold (or up to 6 Tbsp, or 80g) for creamy goodness and gut healthToss it all in a real blender and blend it really well. It should look at feel like a creamy latte, not a layer of oil floating on top of coffee. It doesn’t work if you don’t blend it.It’s not gross. It’s the creamiest, most delicious, highest octane cup of coffee you’ve ever experienced. People who use this precise recipe experience a kind of mental clarity and focus that is hard to express in words. You owe it to yourself to try it made perfectly at least once before showing yourself that changing the ingredients doesn’t work very well.

Well good golly geeze, I'll blend it next time and not try to worry about the floating oily sheen on the top of the cup. 🙂

You can also put it in a sealed container and shake the shit out of it. That's what I do during the week when I don't have time to clean my blender after.

Well, I broke a shaker bottle doing something like that. I added hot coffee to my protein shake… shake shake shake POP SPRAY! … oops… 🙁 I'm sure I would get better results with a glass container. I'll letcha know if it shatters on me 😉

I just shake mine up in that glass milk container in the pic I posted. If you use a shaker cup you'll need to hold the lid down and burp it so the pressure doesn't build up.

The other “learning” experience I've had is when you shake, blend, mix, etc. bulletproof coffee leave plenty of room for the air as the mixing will cause the air pressure to build. If I fill up the magic bullet to the top and then hit the blend it will push it out the seal and make a mess. If I leave a couple inches of room at the top so the liquid can expand all is well and it turns out wicked good!

I recently started with the Bulletproof coffee.  I already was putting 1TBSP of heavy cream, 1/2 cup of Almond Milk (unsweetened of course), and now the MCT oil emulified.  I purchased the Kerry Gold's after all the talk about it.  I definitely thought it would be weird but it wasn't.  I couldn't tell a big texture difference.  I like the cream in my coffee and will use one or the other, cream/butter.  They're both great!

Good news! 😀Firstly, I tried cold brewing my coffee (thanks for the suggestion Backlash!) since I'm still watching some Hario pour overs on eBay that have yet to end ($12? Worth a shot at getting good tasting coffee...) and I must admit, cold brewing wasn't bad! I could definitely taste a sweeter edge to my coffee instead of a burnt hint. That was nice, and I tried it with both my hubbys Dunkin Donuts brand and my Sprouts Chocolate Hazelnut. I think I'll start cold brewing until I get to try that Hario pour over. The quest for the best tasting brew system begins..... Secondly, I was complaining to my hubby this morning about not wanting to use a blender for my coffee and oil, and mentioned the shaker bottle which he commented about me breaking with hot coffee... so I just started using my spoon and despairingly remarked "maybe I can blend it enough with my spoon.." the hubby then suggested "why not use a whisk?" It worked! Just by using my hand I was able to whisk  that bad boy up with a froth and no oily sheen on the top! 1.5 tbs kerry gold & 1 tbs coconut oil! I'm one happy camper ^_^ My coffee was very enjoyable this morning.
