CBachelor17MemberActually spectrum, and many other companies make refined and unrefined products to market the uses of both. In choosing coco oil it usually comes down to variation rather than brand because of this. Although some companies only do the “poor quality” version.

I've found the best way for me to drink bullet proof coffee by making sure I grind the beans fresh myself, and then cold brew it for the next morning. Tastes "ok" but I'm still not the biggest fan.I ran across some vegetable bullion in my cabinet that I never threw out because "Oh I'll use it for something!" Well, I broke it up in some hot water this morning, added my butter and MCT oil, shook it up, and oh my goodness. Tastes like a creamy chicken soup! I love it. I am aware it may break the fast, and its definitely not coffee, but it really hits the spot. Some have carbs, but the bullion I have lists 0 carbs per cube. Very simple ingredient list:Sea salt, organic expeller-pressed palm oil (MCTs?), yeast extract, onion, organic carrot, lovage, tumeric, organic celery, maltodextrin (hmm.....), parsley, organic mace spice.2grams fat, 0 carbs, and <1g protein. Would this break the fast? I'm, of course, leaning towards "Well duh, it does." but its so little of everything, wouldn't it more fall under the category of spices? Curious on what your thoughts were on using this instead of coffee since it tastes so darn good! I'm asking about it all, so don't hold back on any little thing you want to comment on, all thoughts are wanted and appreciated.

while it may be minute it has carbs if these are in it. That being said most coffee has a minute amount of protein&carbs as well. I think the point of the coffee is a thermogenic/metabolic boost it gives, in addition to hunger suppressing, so your sort of missing out on all that, you may as well just eat the CO and Butter, thats what id be doing if I didn't love my morning cup(s) of joe hah.

SpatzModeratorI was under the impression that the hunger suppressant came more from the fats and not so much from the coffee. Also, hunger isn't an issue with me since the nicotine gum tells my hunger to shove it. I just really wish coffee tasted better… grew up in a coffee-less household so it never had any appeal besides the smell. If I could just eat butter and MCT oil and smell coffee to get the same effect as BP coffee I'd be set!Thanks so much for your thoughts!

BP coffee is a metabolic powerhouse because of the fats, and to my knowledge it takes roughly 5g of carbs to cause the first noticeable change in insulin, so the boullion probably won't make an enormous difference in the metabolic effect.However, I wouldn't continue to call it a BP coffee per se, because the beauty of the recipe is its purity; pure fats that promote both lipid oxidation AND empowered brain function. Adding anything with extra ingredients into the mix introduces an extra variable to deal with if your fat loss stalls.

Coffee is recommended because it has chemical compounds in it called cholinomimetics which suppress hunger, and it also has caffeine. The whole hunger suppression thing is the only reason that coffee is recommended over tea or just caffeine pills.Soooo, if you don't care about the hunger suppression, feel free to have a caffeinated tea to basically get the same effect, just without the hunger help. 😀

janice garriganMemberso, I'm wondering…is there any benefit to using butter over HWC with the coconut oil for BPC? I use hwc but tried butter because I looovveee butter but like the hwc much better in the coffee. Any difference or advantage one over the other?Thanks

Scope75Guestso, I'm wondering...is there any benefit to using butter over HWC with the coconut oil for BPC? I use hwc but tried butter because I looovveee butter but like the hwc much better in the coffee. Any difference or advantage one over the other?Thanks
Find RAW grass fed HWC and it'll be the same.

Butter is better than even unhomogenized, grass-fed, raw organic cream. Processing denatures the casein proteins in normal cream. This makes them less bioavailable and potentially harmful. Besides, raw cream isn’t raw after you add it to hot coffee.
Personally I prefer coconut milk anyway 🙂
